Thanks for the ping. I’ve always liked him, more so now with his band performing for troops.

As another poster mentioned upthread, Gene Simmons did a troop performance, prompted by a paper his daughter was doing for school. He “pulled a few strings” and the next thing you know, a couple of MCRD NCOs in San Diego were giving him and his girl (14-y.o.) a very teeny-tiny taste of boot camp. Quite funny! Afterwards they visited a VA hospital, shook the hands of several elderly vets and a few young guys too. The guy was at a loss for words, kept thanking them for their service and wanted to make sure his daughter understood why. I was struck by his humility.

Later he put on a show at the base for current military - you got to see him and other rockers putting together a rock version of the various service hymns, ending the taped portion of the show with the Marine Corps’ and flowing into (I think) God Bless America.
