What’s the crime rate in Idaho? Bet it’s low...
“Bet its low...”
Well, in 2005 Idahos population was ranked at number 40 in the nation, and for all violent crime it is ranked at 41. Specifically, for murder & non-negligent manslaughter 41; robbery, a low 49; and motor vehicle theft 44. However, larceny/theft stands at 36; property crime 37; aggravated assault 31, and disturbingly, forcible rape at 13.
I went to the US Department of Justice page where you can download zipped spreadsheets of state crime statistics
Bureau of Justice Statistics Spreadsheets - Crime & Justice Electronic Data Abstracts
....but when I unzipped the files, they are in a format unknown to Excel, it's a "WK1" file suffix, and I"m still playing around with it trying to get it to load. I'm assuming that I have to change the filename to be recognized by Excel, but I'm not having any luck so far.
ANYHOW, my "good guess" for an answer to your question would be "heck yes!"
I'll keep playing around with it and let you know if I can get it to load :-)
Here in the Boise metro area, the cities of Nampa and Caldwell are considered “high-crime”, at least relative to Boise proper.
One thing those two towns have in common is a growing population of illegals.
Here In the south side of the state,
Town pop. about 100,000 Usually about 0.8 murders/year. Thats my rough guess, though.
