Hotel Reservation: Floor For Women Only New Hotel To Open In September
POSTED: 8:46 am EDT May 17, 2007 E-mail this story | Print this story GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- No men allowed.
That will be the rule on the the entire 19th floor of a new J.W. Marriott hotel being built in Grand Rapids, Mich.
A lounge at the hotel also will be reserved for women only when the hotel opens in September.
Spokeswoman Andrea Groom said more than half of all business travelers are women.
She told The Grand Rapids Press that they want be able to relax over a drink without getting hit on by guys.
The women-only rooms will have distaff-specific amenities such as special hair dryers, bath products, jewelry holders and chenille throws.
But the businesswomen will have to pay for the privilege. Rooms on the women-only floor will be about $30 more than the usual rate.
I've always been a Hilton customer.
Men should sue for “equality” here.
There’s a men only floor then, right?
Sure, right next to the Men's Studies classroom and the Men's Domestic Court.
Is there a floor only for aids, homo’s, lesbian’s, black, yellow, green, purple and all the hyphenated’s? And will these rooms be serviced by the illegals? What a crock.
I travel all the time and find this notion somewhat squirrelly. Unless the women use a different registration desk, hide in their rooms, don’t exercise, and don’t eat breakfast in the hotel restaurants...
It will be like the women’s only area at my gym which women rarely use.
Agreed. In my business travels, I'd peg it at 25% max.
No womens bars in the area? http://www.thevillager.com/villager_60/alesbianbarwhereeverybody.html
The gym I go to has a lot of space, so they added a “Women Only” area. The women who use it all look like East German shot putters.
I wonder if that is what it will look like at Marriott.
So, are trannies eligible for the women’s only area?
They probably really mean lesbian only floor but didn’t have the guts to say so.
I think it’s a good idea. I’d recommend it to my daughters.
I see more women business people at the more upscale hotels. That is to say, The Westins and not the Holiday Inns. I’ve spoken to a few of them, they feel the fancy joints are safer.
Reality check: if they set up a “men only” floor, with a “men only” lounge, what exactly do you imagine would end up going on there? Hint: it wouldn’t remotely resemble what will be going on in the “women only” setting”. And the men using this floor would be very unrepresentative of male business travellers in general. Marriott has thought this one through. I hope our stupid legal system doesn’t force this innovative feature of a PRIVATE business to shut down.

Maybe they can have their own drinking fountains, too.
I seriously doubt that. If that was their intention, they would certainly have set up a “men only” floor too, and it would be fully booked at all times.
