Bush is the AntiChrist. I never seen a President who is as stupid as he is sinse Jimmy Carter.

Get a grip.

McCain is McNuts.

Even my liberal friends think this bill is wrong. I've gotta believe this bill goes against at least 70% of the people's ideas of immigration reform.

Sen. Jeff Sessions (R.-Ala.) offered a devastating analysis on the Senate immigration bill in a speech delivered on the Senate floor on May 23.

Has he already given this speech or is this a print text of a speech to be delivered? The date given is this coming Wed.

The voting process is gone. We now live in a serfdom.

I like to think of it as a kakistocracy/oligarchy.

Senator Session is one of the few intelligent and patriotic senators.

I keep hearing: “This may be our last opportunity to pass a comprehensive immigration bill for a long time, possibly years.”, or words to that effect.

Is that really so? And if it is, might the reason be that there are many patriots currently serving our nation in foreign lands, and thus are not readily available to do what may be necessary?

I do not believe there is a Republican who understands what a train wreck for our beloved Republic this bill is. During the last debate, no Senator fought a better fight than Sessions, and his explanation of chain migration, if understood by the general public would put this bill away for good. But sadly, treachery rules the day, and NO GOOD can ever come when a Rockefeller Republican like Bush Junior and Teddy Kennedy get in bed together.

Ping for lonestar67. Are you able to read this thread and still defend President Bush’s radio plea for this bill’s support, and the Whitehouse fact sheet published late last week on whitehouse.gov?

Thanks James W. I’d forgotten the number for lonestar.

I don’t see how any American, in good conscience can be for this abomination of a bill!!

I can’t believe I read the whole thing. I am aghast. This bill is SO wrong, so BAD, on so many levels that I am still speechless. I can only imagine what must be written in the rest of it. At best, it looks like it was written by several committees, none of whom checked with any of the others, and without oversight beyond, “Get this in there. Make sure it says THIS.” At worst, this bill has the potential to undermine and destroy what’s left of the United States’ sovereignty.

According to my friends who work in the Senate, the provisions he cites are all in the “agreement” bill.

It was my understanding this latest Senate version was nothing more than last years (2006) Senate approved version on steroids.

Any member of the Congress that votes for this bill is guilty of Treason. This bill, as a law, would be unenforceable (are any of the Mexican Invaders going to pay $5,000?), would encourage more Invaders, and would require a massive bureaucracy to implement this nightmarish bill. Maybe the Southwestern States should secede from the Union before President Bush sells them to Mexico.

A sobering thought. You are a wise person.

“Sessions is the most incendiary politician in Washington DC. I wonder if he knows how many minds he is igniting right now, with this commentary.”

I think he is counting on it : )
