I found some disagreement with a couple of the parts of his testimony but the overall information was good to read.

His Carl Levin look is disagreeable. :)

The election of 2006 decided which way the country would go on immigration. It went with the dem plan. Our chance to do something was last year. Now it is too late.

Yep.

Thanks to you, Phsstpok, and all.

Just now was able to log on briefly.

Last nite we were having dinner with son, daughter and their spice when hubby started having chest pains.

On arrival at ER, we were greeted with the happy news that “your husband is having a heart attack right now.”

Fortunately, we were within a couple of miles of one of the 3 top cardiac centers in DFW and a great heart surgeon arrived within 20 minutes. He was able to put a stent in...hubby was willing to die fending off the knife (open heart surgery option).

He did fine and all is well and he is already whining about: no salt, no cigarettes, hospital food and wanting to go home.

I, however, am a wreck. I’ll read all the posts sometime later.

Thanx again for the award.

I think there is a high probability that this goes down due to democrat dissaffection. Combined with almost solid republican opposition in the House, I think it will not see the light of day. I am not so sure that it will even get out of the senate with the number of phone calls and emails the republican senators are receiving. Here is hoping anyway, because the passage of this bill and the president’s signature will doom the republican party and conservative values to near extinction for many years if not forever.

Re: Your photo in post #7...

Just where *is* Ted Kennedy's right hand in that picture?

Lindsay Graham looks like he's smiling a little *too* broadly.

Cheers!

There have been posts on FR that suggest there may have been a deal cut on this and the Iraq funding

I have seen that suggestion. I very much doubt it. The President has been for something like this for a long time. This is not a change in position for him that would bespeak some kind of deal.

On the other hand, we have to wonder how many people who have addresses in 2 states,
have voter registrations in both places.

Funny you should mention that. The ThreePuttinDudette has several customers that
travel back and forth from Florida here, to states up north. They have vehicles
registered in both states, which could possibly allow them to have a voters card.
I have mentioned that to the local GOP officials, and have only gotten a glassy eyed stare
in return.

The customers she has, are of course Red Stater's and only have one registration
but I'm sure there are many who try to play the system, the Lauderdale/Palm Beach set come to mind.

I didn’t see any of the morning shows but I can assure you that Chris Wallace is out to destroy as many Republicans as he can before the elections.

Impeach the President?? Statements like this is why so few take you and others of your ilk seriously. Did you hear McConnell this morning? Since you obviously think anything short of deportation is amnesty, your position is irrelevant to the upcoming debate. The Senate will debate on the specifics of a plan, and it is equally obvious that some type of plan will pass. It is just a question of the details. Everyone not in the 5% aginer’s agree that a problem exists and now is the time to confront it.

$60 trillion in unfunded liabilities

If the unfunded liability is $60 Trillion today, there is no way short of bancruptcy to settle that. I can only imagine what the tax increase would have to be in order to make the country whole.

Come on guys knock it off.

Yes, I'm happy to.

My apologies to all on this thread for exposing you to this nonsense. I lost perspective of the venue, and this should not have gone on as long as it did.
