On the day of the first Southern-state Republican debate on the Fox News Channel, one undeclared GOP candidate performed a media leapfrog.
With the help of one 38-second video clip and a great sense of humor, Fred Thompson, the former U.S. senator from Tennessee who is one sock away from dipping his toe into the race for the White House, remained just as relevant as the other GOP candidates.
And thanks to Michael Moore, the Hollywood documentarian who just can't help himself, Thompson delivered what, in time, could become his watershed moment.

They are trying to buy votes with this amnesty bill from the very people that will *never* vote Republican under any circumstance. You are absolutely correct! It'll take until their (great) grandchildren's generation before they *might* even start to consider voting Republican.

has that slimy Moore posted any response
If he has, we haven't seen it yet. I think Moore's advisers told him that he should shut up.

Oval Office, Fred. Might be something you ought to think about!

I haven't seen any response from Moore either, but the Raleigh News and Observer, my local paper, ran a puff piece on him yesterday with no mention of the exchange with Fred Thompson.
It seems like most of the traditional media are following suit. I'm not sure how Moore's going to deal with this, but his friends seem to want to bury it.
That said, I wouldn't be surprised if Moore ambushes Fred and tries to have the "debate" in his driveway.

Here is what Michael posted on his website a day after Fred made that video.
Why would a potential presidential candidate provide photographic evidence of himself committing a felony? the director told the New York Daily News. Someone should tell him that Law & Order isnt just a TV show, its real life. I hope the federal government will take the proper and necessary actions against him for violating the law.
-Michael Moore
Michael thinks that Fred broke the law for having a “Cuban” cigar, even though the cigar probably never came from Cuba in the first place. Fred said he got the cigars as a gift anyways.
Michael is a lieing sack of (fill in the blank).

I think this video could well serve as a watershed event: I will expect the Left will try to dig up as much dirt over Thompson from now on because they know Thompson is probably the most potent conservative forerunners that know how to use media skills savvily. Moore must have known that he has seen more than his match on that day.
