There are no guarantees. What kind of America do you think we’ll have 10 - 15 - 20 years after this amnesty bill passes? What kind of America do you think we’ll have if the current crop of hard-lefties in the Democratic Party gain complete control of the apparatus of the state?

I wasn’t looking for a generalization. I was looking for specifics.

Conservatives are a stubbornly principled lot. If the GOP wishes to prop up a pro-aborter, or an open border goon, or a gun-grabbing fanatic, don’t expect support from the Conservative base... whether the MSM reports on the so-called “Schism” or not. We know what the candidates stand for, and we don’t need the “DBM” to mainline it into our brains in order for us to understand.

I don’t believe that this is a difficult concept to grasp. If you are looking for a dedicated crowd to rah-rah for the Republican team no matter how hard they suck eggs, you should probably seek to shift that “big tent” to the left. Conservatives won’t cheer for the leftification of the Republican party. Sorry.

This is how the Green Card works and has for some years. Read and quit blaming, you allowed this to happen.

IN ORDER FOR A NONIMMIGRANT (TEMPORARY WORKER) TO BECOME AN IMMIGRANT (PERMANENT WORKER) TO WORK AND LIVE IN THE UNITED STATES, THEY MUST FOLLOW THESE 10 STEPS:

1. Contact an Immigration lawyer.
2. Your lawyer sends a Questionnaire for completion to both you, the Employee, and to your Employer
3. Gather all necessary documents including education records (degree and transcript), experience letters from former employers, resume, passport, all previous visas and approval notices, copy of I-94 card, birth certificate of all family members, marriage certificate, spouse’s and children’s passports and visa history.
4. Employer prepares recruitment history showing efforts by employer to employ U.S. workers.
5. Employee and Employer send completed Questionnaires and documents to lawyer.
6. Your lawyer submits the petition to the federal Department of Labor (DOL) through the online PERM program. DOL adjudicates the Labor Certification.
7. Once Labor Certification is approved, your lawyer submits an I-140 petition for approval.
8. Upon approval of the I-140, you must have a medical examination, have pictures taken, compile federal tax returns, and complete a new questionnaire from your lawyer.
9. Your lawyer then submits an I-485 Adjustment of Status petition.
10. The Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services then contacts you for an interview or in some cases, approves petition without an interview. Once approved you are an immigrant (permanent resident) and can become eligible for U.S. citizenship through naturalization.

(Fact Sheet: Fair and Secure Immigration Reform)

Read them both...until recently our law enforcement (police) and real estate agents, schools, hospitals etc. were not allowed to ask if the person or persons applying for any of the afore mentioned - if they were Citizens or if they had proper papers. Voter ID with picture should be required by ALL states and even that may not be enough. Call or fax your representatives and senators to vote NO on the impending bill. It does not give arrival and departure times for the day or seasonal laborer among many other oversights....health care, schooling of illegal children etc.

How many times must the citizens of America appease Ted Kennedy the socialist, to reduce friction in Washington and harm the country? I've had it with that man and the people that keep him in office…..tyranny? You bet!

Don't Be Fooled(Heather Mac Donald "illegal status wiped away...virtually upon demand.")
National Review ^ | May 17, 2007 | Heather Mac Donald

Republican supporters of the Senate’s latest amnesty bill are trying to distract voters by dangling before them the requirements for an illegal alien to become a citizen or purchase a green card. These requirements make this bill a tough, no-cave-in reform, proponents say, that responds to the public’s outrage over immigration law-breaking. Don’t be fooled.

Prerequisites to citizenship or permanent residency status are irrelevant to whether this bill rewards law-breaking or will encourage more in the future. Its key feature is rather that illegal aliens, according to press reports, can immediately have their illegal status wiped away with a temporary-residency permit, available virtually upon demand. That’s it. The rest is noise. Whether or not one has to show English proficiency and a knowledge of civics to become a citizen is irrelevant from an illegal alien’s perspective; a minute proportion of illegal or even legal Mexican and Central American immigrants come here with the desire to become citizens. The naturalization rate among qualified Hispanics has traditionally been negligible compared to other national groups; it started rising only when Congress required citizenship to receive welfare benefits.

There is no ambiguity about the effects of amnesty. Everywhere they have been introduced—including in Europe—they have brought in their train a new flood of illegals. This latest bill will do the same.

I was referring to third party emergence on the political scene. Maybe conservatives will organize instead of go down with the GOP.

...there is no shortage of people dull enough to fall for “divide and conquer” — the oldest trick in the book.

This is NOT a Republican or Democratic problem, this is an American Citizen's problem - we have allowed this to happen over years of neglecting our elected. Instead of wasting time complaining, call the White House comment line and CALL those you elected and put their feet in the FIRE...TO VOTE NO!!!!!

Why did we work so hard to build Republican majorities? Why did we spend so many hours at phone banks or going door to door?

I think it goes something like this...Because the alternative would have been even worse

America was around long before the Republican party and it will be around long after the GOP is gone.

Yep, nothing new under the sun.

Good list. Add the people in my state who derided Rick Santorum as a sell-out because he voted for some anti-second amendment legislation like prohibiting private ownership of machine guns or no rabbit hunting with assault rifles.

Their biggest priority was to get rid of Rick Santorum and replace him with Bob Casey, who is now proving himself to be a reliable George Soros sock puppet.

Why don’t all the loudest screamer around here go back and review what they were saying prior to, and right after, last year’s election? Seems to be a lot of phony angst and outrage from people who did EVERYTHING they could to elect Democrats last Nov. You all were so arrogantly certain you could "teach the Republicans a lesson" that you just screamed down everyone who pointed out how politically stupid your actions were. Well as you have sown, so now shall you shall reap. Don't look for scapegoats, look in the mirror to see who is to blame for this.

"This thing" is GWB's and the RNC's Mel Martinez' top priority. It would be going nowhere if the President wasn't hellbent on forcing it on us.
