Today the President met with the outgoing British Prime Minister Tony Blair and took part in a joint press availability with him at the White House.
He also attended a commissioning ceremony for Joint Reserve Officer Training Corps and made a statement on immigration reform.
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice attended a reception at the British Embassy in Washington on the peace process in Northern Ireland.

I’ve been around for a hundred operas (opuses). Not much to say anymore except that I wish when they got over it they’d come back.
Leaving one forum does not mean leaving the world.......especially when that forum doesn't represent ones basic Christian worldview.
The only way I’ll ‘come back’ is if there is repentance and confession.............and I don’t see that in the future, unfortunately.

Since you are still on this (your last) thread , I will share with you something that may make you smile for a minute. You know I feel about the President and his good works as you do.
Yesterday at a meeting with old and dear friends, who vote Republican in this deep blue State of Maryland, a friend of mine for 54 years said she did not like George W Bush because he was ‘cocky.’ I was gobsmacked. (Remember when we learned that word on FR?). All I could think of was - I see him as practically Job in the Bible, with all his trials that keep piling on, and my friend sees a cocky person.

I am sorry to hear about your departure from the thread, and I hope you are not done with FreeRepublic in general.
Yes, the place can get more uncivil at times - it is also much, much bigger in terms of member than it was years ago. When you have this many posters - you get more junk, but also a lot of good folks too.
Still, I too am surprised by many of the comments on FreeRepublic. Lately, this place has been a bastion of folks willing to debate you to the death supporting things such as pornography, gay marriage, and atheism . This was unheard of years ago on this forum. You will never get the last word with these people either - if they can't "out post" you they will FreepMail you to death.
There also seems to be a huge Libertarian gang that follows no morality except the one the make up in their own hearts.
I didn't see any of the threads that I am sure prompted your comment, because they have been pulled.
I will comment, however, that I have read a lot (A LOT) of the details on the immigration bill being proposed that has the support of President Bush.
In my opinion, he is absolutely wrong to support his horrible piece of legislation. He has disappointed me beyond measure.
There is so much about this President I love. As you probably know, I served 21 years as an Air Force pilot - including 8 ugly years under the Clintons. When G.W. Bush became Commander in Chief, it was like Christmas morning to us.
The military continues to support him, and that included bleeding and dying.
He is a good, Christian man.
But he is wrong to support this bill. It is amnesty no matter how someone spins it - and our nation will not survive this if it becomes law.
A writer for National Review has said two things will definitely take place if this bill becomes law:
1. The US Dollar will tank.
2. Health care will become so expensive that the government will nationalize (read: ration) it.
I agree with those predictions.
I will continue to pray for President Bush, and I hope to God that he sees what a terrible mistake he is making.

I have long supported President Bush and what he has done in the WOT, with tax cuts and with judge appointments.
I've pragmatically put up with his PDB plan, because I knew it helped him win a close election in Fla., in 2000.
And, I disagree with his illegal immigration plan.
All that said, this president has been our most honest president. All of the above, whether I agree or disagree with it, are things that he said he would do and he has followed through and kept his word.
Anyway, whether FR gets flooded with disruptors posing as conservatives over the next year and one-half remains to be seen. It would be hard to imagine fighting such a flood especially when some of our good anti-disruptors have left (and now that includes you).

Although I am not leaving FR I am posting very seldom here. Mostly I check on the Dose, ATRw, and the Sunday Talk Show thread. Other than that, I am absent.
I appreciate and read the Catholic threads and a few other things, but my political posting has disappeared from Fr; I have found another site which is more respectful of differences in opinion.
ohioWfan and onyx have taken far more abuse than I have. Several months ago the level of vitriol became too much for me and I withdrew from most of my political posting. This is probably why I am still able to post here occasionally without feeling like I am betraying my ethics.
I completely understand ohioWfan and onyx's leaving. I will hang on as long as I can, but frankly, my fingers are slipping off the edge.

Two arguments I've seen on the increase here. 1) "The U.S. incited OBL to attack us on 911". 2) "I will never vote for another Republican again if this latest immigration bill is passed".
It does get tiring arguing against the easily indefensible.
I agree with you and think you made a just and civil assessment. I still love President Bush, he is simply wrong on this point.

That statement is not well thought out. The Republican party is not perfect, but it is infinitely better than the Communi......oops....I mean Democrat party.
Still, the GOP pols who are supporting this travesty of Amnesty (better known as TRAVNESTY) are either terribly and horribly wrong on this. They are making a political mistake of epic proportions.
Let me give you a parallel analogy.
When the American Revolution was won, and our Founding Fathers began drafting the pillars of the new Republic, many Christian politicians and legislators argued for ending slavery - now. They were shouted down. They lost because other politicians (who were also by and large good men) made a terrible decision.
We paid for that awful, sinful, morbid tragedy years later. The American Civil War was more bloody than anyone alive today can possibly fathom.
We paid for that shameful decision, and we shall pay for this one if that bill becomes law.

Absolutely. That's why I would support conservative Republicans who are against this bill. That's not the case for the posters who claim that they will never vote for another Republican again.
About the former, go to a Ron Paul thread or a thread about the recent debate and you will see posters defending Ron Paul's we-incited-911 remark.
