I like Kyl, but I'm worried that not passing a bill would have been MUCH better than what people are saying is in this bill.
The only minor ray of hope is that Harry Reid is saying he doesn't like the bill, that it's too strict. It could just be a game, but we'll see.
I used to have George Allen to defend my position in the Senate, but by 10,000 votes I'm now stuck with Senator Webb, who probably supports this and in any case is such a lightweight it wouldn't matter what he thought, nobody would listen to a word he says.
Maybe Iran will just send the nukes in on trucks from Mexico?
Social Security? A pipe dream... you’ll be working till your 100 to pay for their benefits.
I just left both of my Senators a message.
I expressed my extreme disappointment to her and she thanked me. They are not even taking names and numbers. They don’t care. I told the girl to take my name down and remove my name from every mailing list, phone list and email list. The ever cheery girl said “’kay! Thanks”
Not a very satisfying call.
Well their mailboxes are either full or they are not answering respectively at this point.
Get ready to give a big, warm welcome to President Hillary Clinton...
It may be the only way to mobilize the conservative base with new leadership. Our current leaders are AWOL.
“If Mohammed Atta was still alive, we would be giving him citizenship now?”
Knowing our crackerjack immigration department, they will probably give him citizenship anyway.
“My good friend Jack Murtha”
- U.S. Senator Saxby Chambliss
I guess Ted Kennedy is now his good friend, too.
ping to call my 2 sellout senators tomorrow
Domestic Enemies. Remember them.
Cripes, I expected this kind of thing from a weasel like Isaakson, but jeez.
I think I'll be pulling my repugnican voter registration tomorrow.
Think about it. Just sayin'.
Tom Tancredo could be that candidate and I believe any legitimate, conservative candidate running on such a promise would be elected president.
President Clinton, El Presidente Jorge Bush-what's the difference? At least when we get screwed by Hillary, we won't be simultaneously betrayed.
“But expecting taxpayers to fund their healthcare and education is both evil and unacceptable.”
Consider the alternative. Do you want future generations of Hispanics that are illiterate and unemployed, squatting anywhere they can pitch a tent? Do you want to be stepping over sick and dying people on the sidewalks?
Or, can you imagine that educating an illegal’s children might pay for itself in the future.
These illegals are paying big bucks into our social security system, BTW, with little chance of claiming any of it.
No, of course not. But that is exactly what will happen, if we pay illiterate/unemployed people to come here. If we pay them to leave, and stop paying them to come/stay, they will leave.
Or, can you imagine that educating an illegal’s children might pay for itself in the future.
That's plausible, but irrelevant. There are many things I might force you to spend your money on against your will, where a plausible argument can be made that such spending would have great benefit. But no matter how strong the argument that such spending would be beneficial, being forced to spend your own money against your will is still theft.
These illegals are paying big bucks into our social security system, BTW, with little chance of claiming any of it.
They should not be forced to pay SS taxes when it is not legal for them to collect benefits. But I should not be forced to pay their healthcare/schooling costs, when it is not legal for them to be here.
The problem, which so many on both sides miss:
There should not be a Social Security for which to tax or hand out.
There should not be taxpayer-funded healthcare/schooling.
There should not be a government-mandated minimum wage.
Etc.
Without the government handing out money, or forcing people to hand out money, there would be far less incentive for immigrants to break the law to get here, and far more incentive for willful assimilation for those who do.
This socialist BS has created enormous incentive to fill the massive void between fair wages and welfare. Eliminate the welfare system, and the market will snap that gap shut fast with no need for government intervention.
“These illegals are paying big bucks into our social security system, BTW, with little chance of claiming any of it.- my statement
They should not be forced to pay SS taxes when it is not legal for them to collect benefits.”
Some confusing double negatives make your response kind of weak. All employers are forced to pay SS and Medicare taxes on each paycheck they issue and they “collect it from the employee and transfer to the IRS” as well. Truth is, the SSA is having a bonaza of cash with no traceable history, or at least they are facing double contributions when the real and the fake are both contributing to the same account. Has anybody thought about that?
