Video clip of her easily dissecting the whack-job "truther" movement on FOX's The Big Story, here.
Enjoy. ;)
That was good wasn’t it? lmao ~P~
I thought so. Although I believe Rue Paul could kick his butt.
lmao ....I don’t know why I hear Ron Paul & it reminds me of RuPaul. Happens each time I hear it. I think you’re right RuPaul could kick his butt. RuPaul is in better shape. ~P~
Words have implications as actions have consequences.
I didn't "try" to find implications in them - I FOUND implication in them, as obviously a lot of other FReepers and the public did also.
If Paul, excuse me, DOCTOR Paul, doesn't want implications to follow from his words, then he should just shut up or go into a closet.
That the fanatic Jihadists have sworn to kill us - and have killed thousands of our citizens, along with hundreds of thousands of the Islamic faith because they are not sufficiently "pure" - would seem to have the most serious of implications for all of us.
Unless of course we are of those who lack the DNA for survival.
I’m asking a question, that’s all.
Perhaps you should stop trying to find implications in what I ask, and concentrate on the words.
So if the Unabomber came out and told you why he bombed people, you’d not believe him?
Then perhaps you should quit FINDING implications in the words, and listen to the words themselves.
Words mean what they mean. Ascribing additional meaning to them is intellectually dishonest at best.
I'd say the opposite is true. Paul's one of the few sane men, and most of the rest of the country is bonkers.
We're a country of children now, not men.
You seriously think Paul is so delusional that he thinks he'll be elected President? All it takes is 10 minutes of studying public opinion polls to find out that Americans don't know squat about nor care about their Constitution. Think of how many people he's exposed to libertarian and constitutional perspectives...much more efficient than other kinds of education.
If you really got that from what Paul SAID, then you are reading into his statements.
Listen to what he said. Don’t assign implications or other meanings to it.
He’s telling us why something happened. He is not maintaining that we deserved or earned it.
Baloney, it was the punitive nature of the sactions ($s) against Germany that created the conditions for hitler's election. Sure, France failed to do anything when hitler put German troops into the Rhein. However, invading Germany to stop that move wouldn't have prevented the war either. And frankly who knows which direction the axis/allied allies would have gone had the above invasion from France into Germany taken place.
Of course...how could I have been so obtuse...I should only, as you so astutely observe, "listen to the words themselves" and "quit FINDING implications in the words."
And that will presumably bring me the enlightenment of the (Dr.) Ron Paul adherents, sect members, or whatever.
They, too, have obviously quit finding implications in his words.
Why would you waste time and energy reading into someone’s statements? It’s a lot easier to listen to the words themselves, and not try to find a meaning they don’t have. It’s also frankly tacky, if you “intuit” a totally incorrect alternate meaning.
Dr. Paul means what he says. Nothing more, nothing less. That’s why he doesn’t speak in sound bites.
Why did you put Dr. in parentheses? He is one.
Doing nothing yields the best result? Six million Jews might disagree. So might untold millions of Eastern Europeans who are now freed from the Soviets. I served in South Korea, I can guarantee you that there are millions there who are well fed and prosperous while their countrymen to the north are starving in the dark.
And lets discuss more about American policy in the mid-east being the on-off switch for terrorism....
You surely are aware of Bernard Lewis’s recent column in the WSJ::
Most remarkable of all was the response of the Arab and other Muslim countries to the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan in December 1979. Washington’s handling of the Tehran hostage crisis assured the Soviets that they had nothing to fear from the U.S. They already knew that they need not worry about the Arab and other Muslim governments. The Soviets already ruled — or misruled — half a dozen Muslim countries in Asia, without arousing any opposition or criticism. Initially, their decision and action to invade and conquer Afghanistan and install a puppet regime in Kabul went almost unresisted. After weeks of debate, the U.N. General Assembly finally was persuaded to pass a resolution “strongly deploring the recent armed intervention in Afghanistan.” The words “condemn” and “aggression” were not used, and the source of the “intervention” was not named. Even this anodyne resolution was too much for some of the Arab states. South Yemen voted no; Algeria and Syria abstained; Libya was absent; the non-voting PLO observer to the Assembly even made a speech defending the Soviets.
Again, the simple ‘we exercise influence in the Mideast so they hate us’ does not validly describe history or human affairs.
One might think that somebody who cares about the U. S. Constitution would also care about the Constitution of a new Iraqi nation and its people striving against decades of murderous oppression - instead of rationalizing the murderous oppression, both there and when it is exported here in the form of terrorism.
Paul's remarks have a place - in academia and related venues. They have no place in government when we are fighting an enemy sworn to kill us all; and when the failure to overcome that enemy means that the enemy's intent may well become reality.
If the Unibomber was engaged in an attempt to recruit thousands of followers to participate in waging a terrorist war against western democracies...no!
If you don’t ask the person who commits an act about why he did it, how are you going to know the reasoning behind it? Will you just assign him a reason and decide that’s it, regardless of what he says?
Seems to me the best way to find out a perp’s motive is to, um, ask the perp.
Please don’t tell me what you are arguing is that if we leave the Middle East we will be forgiven and the Islamists will leave us alone?
“Seems to me the best way to find out a perps motive is to, um, ask the perp.”
Only an complete idiot would trust the word of a terrorist.
