You're missing the point. Paul isn't merely using Bin Laden's words to explain the motivation for 9/11. He is taking Bin Laden's cue to have us flee the Middle East. The Unabomber's words suggested he was angry about commercialism, technology, development etc. But those are just words. The bottom line is he was nuts. We should no more pull out of our role in the world for fear of Bin Laden's terrorism than we should stop technological advancement for fear of terrorism from people like the Unabomber.
