Oregon Republican Party Capitol Watch 2007 UNIONS GONE WILD!

The first two weeks in May were landmarks for the Union's agenda.
Again, they have proven that they run the show in Salem.  Here is what they've been up to:

SB 400         Stacks the deck in favor of unions during collective bargaining – Signed by the Speaker and Senate President last Friday, on the Governor's desk

SB 788         Forces child care providers to unionize – Passed the Senate last Friday

SB 858         Forces adult foster care providers to unionize – Sent to Senate Rules on May 2, for end-of-session negations.

SB 1036       $1 per square ft tax on new homes –
Made "Special Order of Business" and passed the Senate last Thursday

HB 3018      Increases vehicle registration fees from $5 to $40 – Sent to Ways and Means last Tuesday
Coming soon, the THREE STOOGES OF UNION BILLS:

HB 2891      Paves the way for unions to pull more independent workers under their umbrella

HB 2892      Takes employers out of the unionizing process by explicitly prohibiting their participation

HB 2893      Prohibits employers from talking to employees about any "political matters"

* All three of these bills have passed the House and all three are up for Work Session next Monday (May 22nd) in Senate Commerce

WHAT CAN YOU DO?

Don't be discouraged by this list.  We are making great progress with our letter to the editor campaigns.

Right to work is one of the good attributes of Idaho. California, Oregon and Washington are not right to work states. The union thugs have the support of the politicians (purchased with big union contributions).

“Right to work is one of the good attributes of Idaho. California, Oregon and Washington are not right to work states. The union thugs have the support of the politicians (purchased with big union contributions).”

The unions own maine, which is why the economy is such a disaster. Their recent scams have been to enact minimum starting salary requirements for teachers state wide (while not mentioning that the rest of the union pay scales are based on that base so about every teacher gets yet another pay raise and every citizen a property tax increase) and forced union dues for state employees even if not in the Union.

That is why I am glad to be moving to Idaho next month.

Excellent. Have you lined up a city, housing and employment yet? I picked Pocatello because the houses were multi-story with basements and large lots. The airport is 7 miles away...down a lightly traveled freeway. Adequate shopping and broadband connectivity. What it lacks is employers with high end salaries. I'm working for the same employer that I had in San Diego. My income has doubled since moving while cost of living is about 70% of San Diego.

I am an adult foster home owner. In its aggressive campaign, the union said in a mailed message they have been promised $2 million for our training and rise of the Medicaid rates we are paid by the state. There are around 2400 Medicaid residents in adult foster homes in the State of Oregon. If it were for their rates’ raise only, not for the training, you are looking at a raise of about $70 per resident per month. Including the training, it will probably go down to $30-40/mo.
With an average of 3.5 Medicaid residents per home, the total rise would be around $122/ mo/home. Meanwhile, based on union statements, my dues would be around 120/mo!!! If they keep their word. Do I have any doubt about what I will be doing? No, I will be feeding them and their politicians.

Plus, nobody really needs their education opportunities, as there are lots of them around.
