So they're probably planning on attacking Mexico any day now. If it weren't for the Mexican nuclear weapons pointed at Mecca, Mexico would be battered with suicide bombers...

So, bin laden explicitly states that they are NOT freedom haters, but attack because of our policies.

On the terrorist thread this is what I have seen. The above is my understanding of Bin Ladens thinking.

We also armed Bin Laden in his war with the Russians, with the best of the best military equipment we had. scary Then WE turned on Bin Laden.

I personally didn't see anyone of those guys I would get out of bed to go vote for, but Ron Paul was correct.

The Middle East for these people includes the Philippines and Spain, BTW. Oh, and India. Funny how we mess around in Asia, Africa and South America more than in the ME and yet there are no people attacking us from those parts of the world.

Face it, they hate us because they’ve been brought up to think that they come from a superior culture, and when they grow up and find out it’s not true they get pissed. It’s that simple.

And put our good ol’ buddy Iran on the list of our allies in the WOT that they attack on a regular basis.

The life blood of Western civilization flows through the Middle East. ZERO ability to topple the USA? Really. They could sure force us into tents in a matter of months (we won’t call it toppling). Try $10/gal or more gasoline on for size. The economy would break and fast without the free flow of oil to the world markets. Japan goes under in 10 minutes and because of Globalization we follow down the toilet shortly thereafter. We stand teetering on the edge of the abyss with Pelosi calling the shots. Bush has lost the funding battle and we will lose the war unless the moron public gets a grip soon. The genocide (Give peace a chance) can change the world as we know it.

Iran is being attacked (check Baluchistan.)

Syria has been attacked.

Algeria has been attacked.

Azerbaijan has been attacked.

France has been attacked.

China has been attacked.

Russia has been attacked.

With allies like these, I’d hate to see our enemies.

Not at all, the Nazis were merely enemies to be beaten, not talked to, not negotiated with, they were to be ended no matter what they thought.

And they did not even attack the mainland of the US, why bother to give Al quida any sort of mental ascension or for that matter, why bother to quote the leader of the group responsible for the deaths of 3,000 innocent americans?

I've read Qutb; although Qutb focused on cultural decadence, it was focused more on the adoption of Western ways by muslims in muslim countries.

The 1979 seizure of the Grand Mosque of Mecca be radicals was encouraged by the practices of decedent Saudis, or so the radicals claimed.

Incorrect. The US had zilch to do with Bin Laden's Arab fighters in Afghanistan.

Where Ron Paul (who may be the most consistent candidate up there and whom I greatly admire) is incorrect is that evcen though bin Laden lists our involvement in the Middle East as one reason, they woudl hvae attacked us even if we were not involved over there. They hate our power and the perceived (and to some extent real) decadence of our society. Our activities in Iraq and our support of Israel just add additional excuses for bin Laden’s murderous ideology.

Actually, all I ever hear is that we are messing around in the middle east. Reading this initial post, there is no mention of anything other than that.

There's a great deal of that in his other fatwas. I think bin Laden also mentioned taking revenge for the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, not to mention the Crusades (which did not become a big Muslim issue - since the Muslims crushed the Crusaders and pushed Christianity back from the Holy Lands well into the Balkans - until leftists started making a big deal of it in the 20th century). A lot of bin Laden's screeds are just recycled leftist pap. Bin Laden hates us because he views Muslim governments as puppets on American strings, meaning that our capitulation would simultaneously deliver these governments into his hands. As long as these governments don't answer to him, he will keep on attacking us. But when he gets control of them, he will leverage them to launch even more ferocious attacks. Look what happened in Afghanistan - the Taliban became little more than al Qaeda's Praetorian Guard.

Is he a fantasist? No, he's a master propagandist - using leftist rhetoric is how he got Washington state's Patti Murray to say good things about jihadists. If he confined himself to rhetoric, everyone could just ignore him. His attacks are unfortunately, all too real.

Well, we have been “over there” since Jefferson’s time. I am sure that Bin Laden would agree that the troubles of the Muslim world began hundred of years ago as European traders pushed into area dominated by Muslim rulers. Paul is really arguing against world trade.

haha...Yea if we didn’t intervene it would all work out a lot better for us. Ron Paul gives a bad name to idiocy.

It would all work out better if we waited for the Caliphate to establish itself in the ME and Europe. After all fighting the Islamic Nutjobs now violates all that is good and right with fairness and principle. We should wait till they attack us here in the states...oh wait they did.

Ron Paul is a crazy old fool who doesn’t understand the principles he thinks he is espousing.

You don’t wait till the Caliphate is established before you decide to fight them. You eliminate them prior to that point.

“So why do they attack Saudi Arabia and Pakistan?”

Because those countries don’t believe in the Caliphate either. They rather like their kingdom and nominal democracy, in both cases quite willing to do business with the infidels.
