The Thompson response is going to have an amazing polarizing effect.
For Democrats it means two of their sacred cows have been attacked; Michael Moore and Fidel Castro. It makes them sit up and look (hatefully) a lot harder at Fred.
For Republicans it it further evidence of an ELECTABLE candidate with humor, insight and most of all BALLS...BIG BIG BALLS!!!

If, by democrats, you mean the candidates, I agree without qualification.
But if you mean the democratic voters, I'm not so sure.
I think mainstream dems know that Moore and his ilk are just one use tools to be used and thrown away. I really do believe that most Americans, Pubs or Dems, are pretty fed up with the divisive bs.
Fred has it in him, to put into party neutral words, a broad message that could unite us. Especially, if nominated, he very carefully selects his running mate.
Of course, I think that person would be JC Watts. :)
