I thought this comment by Bob Krumm "Thompsons reponse to Moore will have a much greater impact on the presidential campaign than anything said at this little shindig tonight. Itll be seen by many more people too" was an exaggeration, a bit of blogospheric triumphalism. Now I'm not so sure. As of 7:45 p.m. EST, the video has 156,069 views. Obviously, plenty of those are repeat viewers. But that's a good run in less than eight hours.
MSNBCs first Democratic debate had 2.26 million viewers; their GOP debate had 1.76 million viewers. (Reasons for the lower viewers for the GOP? 1. Most of America was glued to their web-browsers for my live-blogging. 2. Pre-game hosted by Keith Olbermann, who eight nights earlier had "accused Rudolph Giuliani of using the language of Osama bin Laden with "the same chilling nonchalance of the madman." 3. It was hosted by Chris Matthews. 4. Many Americans actually have lives.)
Anyway, it will be interesting to see what gets greater buzz in the coming days. In a way, if every GOP candidate on stage tonight plays it safe, a potential candidate bit- er, slapping around Michael Moore might actually spur more discussion in GOP circles.

And, we cigar smokers have a better than average chance of putting one of ours in the White House.
*********************************************
Well, blowjob was a cigar smoker and he made a lousy president.....plus he ruined good cigars by misuse...yuck!
Hopefully the Fredster can redeem the image of cigar smokers.....that moore-smacking vid went a long way toward that....yeeehaww!
First, he's gotta find 'em underneath all those layers!
That was BEEEautiful!
He is quick, that is for certain. And Michael Moore (gack) thinks HE is so clever. Fred clotheslined him within 10 seconds, and KO’d him in less than a minute! Steaming Pile never saw it comin’. Heh.
Classic.
I know who the proven executive is in the bunch.
IIRC, the Libertarian and Constitution parties have chosen to forgo primaries and have already selected Paul as their candidate -- in theory, he would be running on three lines if he won the GOP nomination (not likely!).
I’m a bit disturbed by the fact that this is the second debate and Fred’s still not in.
UPDATE ON MOORE (or less) VS THOMPSON:
Thompson’s stogie stunt surprised Moore.
“Why would a potential presidential candidate provide photographic evidence of himself committing a felony?” the director told us last night before he showed his film to the 9/11 workers he’d brought to Cuba.
“Someone should tell him that ‘Law & Order’ isn’t just a TV show, it’s real life. I hope the federal government will take the proper and necessary actions against him for violating the law.”
Good grief, Moore is a moron.
These debates are pointless, and can only serve to harm, not help, first tier candidates.
love your tagline!
bttt
“He has a slow, deliberate delivery and just would look bad when limited to 45 and 30 seconds.”
Well, look what he did in 38 seconds. . . .
Hey Mikey, you're not talking about health care; you're talking about Fred's cigar(s). Me thinks you've lost the debate.
I give Fred Thompson credit for knowing the score and the ability to figure out a strategy that he thinks will work for him. We can sit here and hypothesize til kingdom come over what that is, but we will still not know, will we ? ; )
Hahahaaa! Bingo:)
Yep! As much as many of us REALLY want Fred to announce -last week already- he does have a plan. He’s even mentioned he’s got a time-frame with some built-in room for flexibility. He’s not stupid by any stretch and clearly is aware of the political climate.
