U.S. 'Top 10' fugitive arrested in Montreal
Updated Sun. May. 13 2007 9:29 PM ET
CTV.ca News Staff
A U.S. fugitive on the FBI's "Ten Most Wanted" list will appear in a Montreal court on Monday charged with immigration violations.
Richard Steve Goldberg, 61, was arrested early Saturday in suburban Montreal by a police tactical team. He is being held under the Immigration and Detention Act.

Richard Goldberg is taken into custody early Saturday
morning May 12, 2007 by a police SWAT team in Montreal.
Canadian authorities will seek to keep Goldberg, who is
on the FBI's 10 Most Wanted List(CP / Mathieu Wagner)
Our role in this hearing will be first of all to demonstrate that he should remain in detention," Erik Paradis, a spokesman with Canada Border Services Agency, told The Canadian Press on Sunday.
He said U.S. authorities have already initiated discussions about extradition proceedings.
"The American authorities will be asking and requiring his extradition. I'm sure the paperwork is on its way presently," Paradis said.
Goldberg is wanted in connection with various crimes against children, the FBI said in a news release issued Saturday.
He had reportedly been using the name Terry Wayne Kearns when Canadian authorities arrested him, although Paradis couldn't confirm that.
The FBI said an "individual residing in Canada" had identified Goldberg and then notified them.
The U.S. law enforcement agency made a request for assistance on Friday to their Canadian counterparts.
Local authorities in Long Beach, Calif. want Goldberg in connection with allegations that he engaged in sexual activities with female children under the age of 10.
There are also allegations that he captured these activities on videotape and that images were found on his computer.
The exact charges are:
Sexual exploitation of children (production of child pornography)
Unlawful flight to avoid prosecution
Lewd acts upon a child (six counts), and
Possession of child pornography (two counts)
The FBI said that as of March 31, there have been 486 fugitives on the most wanted list, and that 456 have been found.
Goldberg is the 149th "Top Ten Fugitive located as a direct result of citizen co-operation," it said.

One hour in court and then kill him. Must he have a full hour in court?

I’d swear I buy coffee and a newspaper from him every weekday while I drop the change he gives me back in that little plastic container for Jerry’s kids.

"Only nine more to go!"
Hey, if we've got 'em - you're welcome to 'em!
On a somewhat related note, since our new Conservative government took office just over a year ago, U.S. Military deserters (e.g. traitors & cowards) claiming 'refugee' status are currently batting 0.000 in proceedings before Canada's Courts & Immigration bodies.

I’m not sure how things are now but under the former Canadian gov’t all this clown would have had to do was claim that he would be tortured by Bush for his anti war activities if returned to the US and they would have given him asylum in a heartbeat.

The post-9/11 version of the Canada-U.S. Extradition Treaty (2003?) is pretty much airtight unless potential application of the death penalty is at issue.
Otherwise, the ACLA won't get so much as the time of day from Canadian Courts.
BTW, any of FR's habitual Canada-bashers should rightly contrast the above article with both of our nations' experiences with Mexican 'justice'.

As much as I despise the Liberals & appreciate your implied support, things have never been anywhere near that bad.
This degenerate scumball will most likely be quite quickly broomed under our current bilateral Treaty signed by the former Canadian regime.
It's generally only when the issue of potential Stateside capital punishment is involved that our worthless Judges cause any real problems - as also occur between respective U.S. jurisdictions.
