HOUSTON - In a shift of tactics, Republican presidential contender Rudolph Giuliani acknowledged his liberal views Friday, calling a woman's right to choose an abortion one of his "core beliefs." After a week of criticism for making contradictory comments about abortion, Giuliani also said he backs gay domestic partnerships that aren't marriage and the right of states to restrict guns. Giuliani, a New York Catholic who once considered the priesthood, chose to make his stand before a conservative, Protestant audience at Houston Baptist University in an appearance arranged just Wednesday.

A leopard never changes his stripes. - Al Gore
He really didn’t say that, did he?
Only if you define SoCons as the party. What happens if a new version of the GOP is crafted that appeals even more to the center?
Politics is simply calculus writ large. The only question relevant to Rudy is simply: can he attract more from the left than he loses on the right?
With NY, CA & FL lined up with early primaries, this strategy has every chance of winning. So then the next shoe drops: what do SoCons do? Form a 3rd party?
He sure did - he also quipped “Verbosity leads to unclear, inarticulate things” and “If we don’t succeed, we run the risk of failure” plus a few more - they’re here:

Well, this should get his support to fall under 20%. I’d like to see him switch back to rat party and run against Hillary in the primaries.
Then it is a third party for me if Rino Rudy is nominated.
************
This sentence begs for a punchline.
I wonder who planned this so that the Pope could appear to be excommunicating him as he landed in Brazil. Genius!
Well, if he breaks off as a third party candidate, he'll draw a lot of Dim votes, too. We could still pull off a GOP win without him.
But he's done in the party. No base...he's gone. Forget the RINOs and their mewlings. The dark truth of reality yet evades them. You do not win the GOP primary without conservatives no matter what the liberal media has brainwashed you to believe. Julie has lost the base, he will have to wash away that disappointment with a few six packs of Zima or something...
My biggest concern is no longer Julie as a contender. It's whether Fred Thompson is actually able to mount a coherent campaign or if he's feeling his age.
I mean, I liked Bob Dole, too, but we all saw what happened...
Still, there's always Hunter and Brownback. They've hardly peaked and there a long way to go once the "money thing" is settled.
Would you expect any less from AlGore? : )
It looks like Rudy is getting ready to make the switch to the dhimmicrat party.
He also spoke about our national motto, “E pluribus Unum..out of one, many.” Yeah, Algore is a real intellectual giant.
We've seen more than enough of him already.
He's NOT welcome here in New Hampshire!
This confirms your stand taken previously re Giuliani, so stay the course.
A big-tent party where the members do not share core beliefs is nothing more than a coalition.
Hehehehe! Exactly why I love my tag line!

I agree, I am a Duncan Hunter man.
News flash to Rudy; The majority of voters don’t like to be jerked around and lied to.Please have the dignity to just go away quietly.
