They never really believed in the HEART of FreeRepublic. Economic policies okay, Fighting Islamic extremists, sure, but no real commitment to the underpinning transcendent truths that give meaning to those things. They are happier where they are at.

You mean an end to the New Deal, Fairness Doctrine-style thinking and the Morality police on BOTH sides of the aisle?

Add my John Henry to that list, too!

"We are witnessing the meltdown of a campaign...."

It was dead some time ago. Giuliani just didn't know it.

Giuliani abhors the Second Amendment as much as McCain abhors the First Amendment.

I wonder, if either did get elected, how he would respond to that part of the Oath of Office that states:

“...and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”

You actually made the first quote, rather question, of the day? What will happen?

There still is a large chance Rudy will prevail in the primaries. While the primaries are the home of core conservatives when it comes to local elections, it is usually pretty inclusive of moderates and independents who latch onto a candidate in the Presidential primaries.

There is still a strong chance Rudy will be the Republican standard bearer and next occupant of the White House.

I think Giulanni was a choice of the press. It created him, and it has done him in over abortion. Next.

"I believe abortion is wrong," he said. But out of respect for other people's fervent support of abortion, he said, "I would grant to women the right to make that choice."

"Other people's fervent support"? He's a damned NARAL Champion Of Choice. It's his fervent support for them (and theirs for him) that is pertinent.

And "I would grant to women...", just look at that.

So now, it's not the courts or some mythical right to privacy or any of that other bilge. It is Rudy Giuliani from who our rights flow. If Rudy says it's a right, then it is. Otherwise, nada.

The man talks just like a fascist menace. He says this kind of thing constantly. Have we ever seen such an autocrat in the White House? I'm not sure even FDR and Lincoln went this far.

Rudy didn’t want to shoot himself in the foot, so he machine-gunned himself from the waist down.

"Giuliani also asserted that his views on gay rights and gun control are not that different from conservatives."

But they are different. I can't believe this guy is ahead in the polls here in South Carolina. I believe my neighbors must not be paying very much attention to politics this early in the cycle. The average Joe only knows him from his actions in the wake of 9/11. Once they hear what he stands for and believes his numbers will be single digit.

And there's the rub, they DO need us and if they think they don't, if Rudy and his minions can convince them that they don't, the Party is over.

For a conservative Republican, a vote for Rudi is sheer political suicide.

Rudi is the Dr. Kevorkian of the Republican party. He intends to euthanize the conservative wing.

........Giuliani decided that the reign of social conservatives is coming to an end.........

Hmmmm.....I see Rudy and them wideawake types been sipping something that makes their brains freeze. Now, because I am so nice, I am giving 'em a friendly warning:

WARNING TO WIDEAWAKES Two or three No-Doze tablets washed down with a six-pack of this

can affect your cognitive ability (if you ever had one).

Even worse, you might start saying nutsy-cuckoo things like:
"Rudy, Tudy, he's my man,
If he can't beat 'em, nobody can."

Gotta watch that stuff, guys.........could alert the men in the white coats.

Yeah, like that 'maverick' John McCain in 2000. Or even George H.W. Bush in 1980.

There is still a strong chance Rudy will be the Republican standard bearer and next occupant of the White House.

There is also a chance that at President Bush's next press conference, he'll pull out a flute and a wicker basket and demonstrate his snake charming abilities with a deadly cobra.

But like your 'strong chance', it is a scenario highly UNlikely to take place.

Interesting take. I think he was a creation of the Clintonista War Rooms in an attempt to take the GOP far to the left.

Think back to the last Presidential campaign, when there were a few ads on TV touting General Wesley Clark--"He would make an excellent President." Clearly an attempt to peel off some of the military voters from Dubya, and to muddy the waters over the Dem's weakness on national defense issues.

Cheers!

It’s frightening how they’re really like, and how flippant they are concerning the morality of abortion: it’s as if they don’t understand WHY the Pro-Life wing of the GOP is so important and why we’re so adamant about some candidates.

It’s not surprising. A good portion of the Rudy supporters also happened to be supporters of the culture of death. They would descend upon threads pushing their agenda of death.

“Alas, Rudyism is a Mental Disorder.”

Well, I’m sure leftism is, and Rudyism is nothing but the acceptance of leftist ideology.

Alright Rooty, they you're also okay with ...

"I believe Adultery is wrong," .. But out of respect for other people's fervent support of fooling around ... "I would grant to trollops and horn-dogs the right to make that choice.

And I really really really REALLY mean that!

Who made you say that Rooty? As if I didn't know (snicker).

Rooty is all puckered up and kneeling in obeisance to the liberal satans.

This bilgewater was clearly The Rudester assuaging his liberal handlers that "all is well."

Wouldn't you love to be a fly on the wall at Rooty Campaign Central when they decide who Rooty will pucker up to next?
