Holy crap! Good thing I don’t need to go that way today. Prayers up!
CINCINNATI — Ohio State Police confirmed that two people are dead after two aircraft collided Friday afternoon in midair.
East Kemper Road is closed indefinitely between Reed Hartman Road and U.S. Route 42, authorities said, and traffic is slow on portions of Interstate 275 near Reed Hartman Road.
Federal authorities initially said a helicopter and fixed-wing aircraft had collided in midair, but an employee at Blue Ash Airport confirmed that both aircraft were fixed-wing planes.
Officials have identified one of the aircraft as a Cessna 172N registered to Flying Neutrons Inc. in Milford, and the airport employee said the other was a Beechcraft Bonanza.
A witness told News 5 said the aircraft clipped each other over Beacon Orthopaedic and one of them nose-dived in the area of Reed Hartman and Fields Ertel roads.
The other aircraft crashed somewhere near Grooms and Kemper roads, the witness said.
A portion of a wing was found on the ramp from westbound I-275 to Kemper Road and the main body of the aircraft was located by investigators near Sovereign Drive and Squire Hill Court.

WLWT is streaming live coverage, as is WCPO, if you have a fast enough connection
Whats really odd is visibility is very good today. Some higher elevation clouds, but that shouldn’t have been a factor.

I check WLWT, and the T1 line did its thing. Thanks.
Prayers for the victims.
Two confirmed dead. No news on anybody on the ground, apparently the wreckage is widespread.
Looking at the two largest collections of debris, it looks like the debris field is at least a half mile long and who knows how wide, stretching across I-275

At least. Kemper road being shut down til NTSB finishes is going to cause massive problems for the Friday rush hour crowd, and the rest of the weekend, depending how long they hold the scene secure.
And for those unfamiliar with the area, draw a line straight north-south through the marker for exit 47 from the park up to Fields-Ertel (where it says Butler/Hamilton, and you’ll get an idea of where the debris is...
A low wing settled down onto a high wing?
“A low wing settled down onto a high wing?”
Don’t know for sure. conflicting reports depending on which news outlet you hit.
Visibility isn’t an issue here today, its clear up to around 10 or 12K in my best ‘guestimate’ out the window.
Artimis was showing Reed-Hartman closed as well. 275 they have strangely left open (and it appears to be flowing very smoothly). Traffic continues to go right past the section of wing on the on-ramp.
