BREAKING -- SOMETHING IS UP IN ALABAMA AND IT MAY BE RELATED TO TERROR THREAT TO GERMANS!
Vanity ^ | 05/11/07 | cww

Posted on 05/11/2007 10:12:27 AM PDT by CWW

Drudge is currently flashing a story about an imminent terror threat against German citizens in the country.

This morning, the State of Alabama was the announced winner of a $4 billion steel mfg. plant to be located in Mobile, Al by German steelmaker ThyssenKrupp. There was supposed to be a press conference and public announcement with Governor Riley and the CEO and other representatives of ThyssenKrupp.

About an hour ago, traffic was temporarily halted on I-85 West in Montgomery as approximately 50 police cars and motorcycles passed by along with 1 Humvee.

Information is locked up tight, and none of the authorities will talk with the local press about it and are claiming a lack of knowldege. There have been some statements in the local press (talk radio) that it involves Homeland Security.

Needless to say, something is up.

And I-10 goes south from Baton Rouge into New Orleans but I would never refer to it as I-10 south.

>>>>>Don’t those dumb Germans know that the real cheap labor is in Mexico?<<<<

They ain't dumb, it is family reunion. First Nazi rocket scientist set up their shop in Huntsville, now Nazi financier Krupp is setting up the steel mill in Mobile.

Labor cost is not an issue for Krupp. Arbeit macht frei.

German steelmaker ThyssenKrupp.

ThyssenKrupp are nothing more than kraut bastards! My company (The Budd Company) was owned by Thyssen Steel until Thyssen merged with Krupp back in 1997. Thyssenkrupp (Krupp being major holder) then went on to close our stamping plant in Phila. in 2002, closed our Detroit stamping plant on 12/4/06 and sold The Budd Company to a Canadian company called Martinrea on 12/1/06. They also sold our plastics division last summer also.

I could go on about how they successfully screwed me and attempted to screw all the corporate employees they did not retain but sent along with the sale to Martinrea then the majority of them got laid off. Because they were laid off by Martinrea, TK attempted to deny them their separation packages saying they were now Martinrea's responsibility. That was all put to rest when TK found out they had retained legal council and were about to be sued. TK gave in and granted them their severance packages.

Basically TK is divesting themselves from the auto industry and focusing all their attention into building a state of the art steel manufacturing facility in South America which will be geared towards the growing China. Thats why I am surprised they are going to build a steel plant in AL............

While I wish AL well with the new plant, I have nothing but contempt for TK

Thyssen Steel was always good to the Budd Company and its employees from the day they acquired us (1980?). They stuck with us and suffered with us thru all good times and the bad times. The day they merged with Krupp steel was the day everything started going downhill for Budd.......

I wasn’t sure if Krupp was part of a “merger” with a Thysson co.

Krupp is much older than that!

Ah. But they are *very* well known for military-type manufacture. Perhaps because Germany had such a big military culture.

But I wouldn’t mind a choo-choo wheel. ;-)

To: Revolting cat!

You have to turn the sentence around to see if it makes sense and is singular or plural. In this case it would be as follows: “A lot of rumors are flying there on this thread”, so I would say it is correct to say “There are a lot of rumors flying on this thread”. It would not sound right to say “A lot of rumors is flying there on this thread”. In other words, take the sentence apart and just use the subject and verb and you have “rumors are flying”, not “rumors is flying”.

Have I made myself clear? There will be a quiz on this.

I-35 runs north and south, but here in the DFW area, we have an I-35E and an I-35W as it splits thru the area.
I-35E runs thru Dallas and I-35W runs thru Ft. Worth.

Maybe that’s how it is in that area, too. (?)

He may be referring to the fact “a lot” was used in there. “A lot” is a singular.

Of course, we could cry “BRITISH!” and use the abuse of “the enemy have” and “the enemy are” as rationalizations for saying “are a lot”.
