Dear Mr Robinson:

We are writing on behalf of our client, the Democratic National Committee (DNC).

A post by “coffee260” on FreeRepublic.com today states that this morning, on the Quinn & Rose show on XM, co-host Quin stated that the DNC chairman, Gov. Howard Dean had called Gov Kathleen Sebelius (D-Kans) “around 5:00am on morning after a tornado destroyed the town of Greensburg, Kansas and discussed with here what to say about the tornado and how to blame the war in Iraq and the Bush administration on a slow response to the aftermath.”

The statement was made by Mr Quinn, repeated on FreeRepublic, is demonstrably, unequivocally and absolutely false. Gov Dean had no such conversation with Gov Sebelius, ever.

No effort was made by FreeRepublic to contact anyone at the DNC for comment or to check the accuracy of these statements before they were published. FreeRepublic not only repeated this statement, but further stressed that Quinn’s “source” was extremely reliable and in a position that would give him direct knowledge of these revelations.

The statements quoted above are false and defamatory, are libelous and slanderous and clearly threaten to interfere with the DNC’s operations and ability to solicit support and raise funds by predjuding the organization in the eyes of the Democratic Party supporters and the public. For these reasons, we demand that FreeRepublic immediately cease and desist from Further dissemination of the above quoted statements or any statements similar in substance and immediately post a retraction of these statements in a location on its web pages at least as prominent as that on which the original story appeared.

Please let us know by noon, May 11, 2007, whether you intend to comply with these requests.

Thus, he was referencing an off site pdf file of a letter sent by email to Free Republic.

First see my previous post regarding how he became aware of it. Second, if the email is so bogus, why did the radio station acknowledge receipt of a similar notice? Third, do you know for a fact that this notice was not sent via email, snail mail, certified mail or bicycle rider?

There was nothing said in his/her initial comment that made any inference that he/she was not the recipient of said posted email and that is why I asked how it was they were the recipient of this email..........

Wow. This is very interesting. I was watching the evening ‘news’ (bwaha) and I noted right away that the spin was out that there would not be enough National Guards to help with the aftermath because they are in Iraq. That was it, no numbers no facts to back anything up, just general statements. I believe it was the NBC Nightly News.

Makes me wonder how concerted this spin was. I would love to know if NBC, CBS and ABC were contacted.

The more I think about this the more likely that this letter is the 2008 campaign issue. We all realize this is just part of the fairness doctrine conspiracy, however this letter alone is campaign fodder in itself. The threats to speech alone are enough to keep this alive for a very long time. Just adding my two cents.

Since I responded to your post I thought of another issue. Are you aware of the fact that this thread was removed for approximately 1/2 hour, beginning around 9:46 am? If you look at the posts around that time, you'll see a break between 9:46 something and 10:20 a.m. or so. It was because this thread was removed by Admin 'For Review'. How do I know that? Because I was reading the thread at the time and when refreshing my browser, I came to the thread removed window. It was after checking more than once, I was able to return to it around 10:30. Now, ask yourself this: If this is a bogus email, thus a bogus thread, why would Admin remove it 'for review' and then open it back up for discussion again??? If it were indeed bogus, it would better serve them to keep it off the forum, rather than open it back up again for further remarks. Hmmmmmmmmm?

Sorry then, I misread your post. It came across to me as being critical of the thread poster, what with all the bogus claims.

It's been a long day, and I've been part of this from the start (almost). Thus far, there has been enough confirmation elsewhere to prove to me this is not a bogus situation. Please see my other posts to you for points in that regard.
