She's done more to help win the war on the homefront--where it is currently being lost--than all the chicken-necked RINOs in Congress put together.Bumping that.
And if you're interested in a real way to support real troops, please join Gathering of Eagles in Operation Recruiter Appreciation on May 19th. Check the link in my tagline.

First, Americans were told not to worry and go shopping. Second, Congress and the White House made a decision not to offer war bonds or stamps to citizens that would have helped fund the war efforts. That was a sorrowful decision as offering war bonds would have partnered the civilian population with the military. The net effect of these two actions was essentially sending our military to war without the best possible backing of our nation.
Agreed. When it comes to engaging the public in the war effort, this administration has been dreadful. And it's costing them--and all of us--now.
We desperately need some leadership with cojones in the GOP. That's why I like Duncan Hunter...

The War is a segment on the news. The War is a subject of political gamesmanship. It isnt real to them.
And sadly, it won't be unless and until we get smashed in the face again by our enemies.
How many times do we have to get whacked in the back of the head with a 2x4 before we understand that we're in a fight whether we want to be or not?

Thanks for the ping. I’d love to watch it, but I’m on slow dial-up, and it would take me forever to download it. ... :-( ... Hopefully, lots of others will get to view it... :-)

In my opinion, this video is required viewing for all FReepers.for all Americans

Awesome, moving video...Thanks for posting it because I had not seen it before. It really took my emotions back to 9/11 and the anger I felt that day. I emailed the link to every contact on my email list so we might get a bit closer to those 396,000,000 people that have yet to see it.
Thank God for our fighting men and women. America supports you.

Thanks for the info on the real reason for World War II bonds. I could see why today’s patriots would want to do something similar, but in reality, any government bond is just the govt taking a loan from the bond buyer, which will have to be paid back (by the govt) with interest. So in today’s monetary climate, War Bonds do not make sense. Better for folks to send contributions to one of the great resources that help our troops.
With the devastation of 9/11 to our economy, the last thing our country needed was for people to stop circulationg money.

Might be a good place to post some links to such resources. After watching that video, a lot of people--myself included--would be motivated to act.

And sadly, it won't be unless and until we get smashed in the face again by our enemies. And even then, the realization will be short-lived. One celebrity telethon and a "very special episode" of their favorite television show should get them through the next attack just fine.
The reality is, the concept of fighting for anything -- their families, their freedom, their lives -- is completely alien to the lion's share of the American people. That's the way it's going to stay until they lose everything. Which they inevitably will.
