Reminds me of that movie about that ghost ship dead in the water and nothing on board.

Right from the get go, as many of us predicted, Rudy intends to split the Republican party if he does not become the pre-annointed presidential candidate of the Republican Party. Rudy wants to become the mayor of the USA or destroy all Republican chances for a victory. Iraq has now overshadowed his candidacy.

Other Freepers have been very busy researching these connections over the last several months.

See: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1831003/posts?page=35#17

( Posts 17 to 29)

Its time that Rudy's candidacy is destroyed, utterly, by exposing his Mafia Connections to the general public. The sooner this is accomplished, the better. It provides the true socio-political context in which Giulliani attempted to have Homeland Security run by Kerik, a direct scion of the Gambino family of New Jersey.

***************************************

Interestingly, Giuliani had a 'Vulnerability Study' prepared for his 1993 Mayor's race. The results were so telling that he had the report destroyed-- sensitive information included reports of his "raucous social life" during his first marriage as well as his relations to members of the mob. Giuliani staff were also concerned about the "weirdness factor"-- perhaps most directly due to his marriage to his first cousin (further reading in Barrett's Rudy! An Investigative Biography).

JUST A SMALL SAMPLING of his connections to mafia organizations, corrupt deals, appointments of criminal and defamed friends and other scandals follow below. A few hours of research will reveal a great more information-- more than is necessary for this article:

FATHER AND UNCLE CONVICTED FOR MOB CRIMES

Giuliani's father was a convicted hold-up man who served time in an upstate prison and was later employed as an enforcer for a Mafia loan shark operation. When the book was first released Giuliani denied and later admitted it was true. According to the book, a number of his other relatives were also in the Mafia besides the uncles who were firemen and police officers that he proudly refers to in public speeches.

And so Rudy publicly exclaims his excommunication from his “faith”. I guess some things are more important than others.

Hopefully he will be equally honest on his “regularization” stance...another abomination.

Atleast Giuliani could have really said that he was pro-choice but the States should be left to decide it.

It was pretty Giuliani is taking a militantly pro abortion position because thats what he believes in, ofcourse it is hard to wipe off all those Newyork values in Giuliani.

It is not the issue of abortion, it is pretty clear that candidates who are pro-choice nominate Lousy , horrible judges.

Sorry Rudy, you simply are not qualified for the office of the Presidency.

At the same time, Mr. Giuliani’s campaign — seeking to accomplish the unusual task of persuading the Republican Party to nominate an abortion rights supporter as its presidential candidate — is eyeing a path to the nomination that would try to de-emphasize the early states in which abortion opponents wield a great deal of influence. Instead they would focus on the so-called mega-primary of Feb. 5, in which voters in states like California, New York and New Jersey are likely to be more receptive to Mr. Giuliani’s social views than voters in states like Iowa and South Carolina. They said that approach became more appealing after Florida, another state they said would be receptive to Mr. Giuliani, voted last week to move its primary forward to the end of January.

The shift in emphasis by Mr. Giuliani comes as his campaign has struggled to deal with the fallout from the first Republican presidential candidate debate in which he gave a halting and apparently contradictory responses to questions about his support for abortion rights. Mr. Giuliani’s aides were concerned both because it opened him up to a new round of criticism from abortion critics — who have never been happy with the prospect of a Republican presidential candidate who supports abortion rights — while threatening to undercut his image as a tough-talking iconoclast who does not equivocate on tough issues.

It really sounds like the Giuliani is switching his views based on the latest numbers and focus groups. Everything he does is just to be elected, just like Hillary Clinton. The guy is so phoney. The people who call this twit "principled" are either lying or delusional (that means you, Sean Hannity, you shameless Rudy shill).

I wonder who added that gem.

Good for Rudy. There’s a lot more to be conservative than abortion. That is only 1% of the plank. Abortion is a non-issue with the more important issues facing the country.

You and others were right about roooody from the beginning. Without your good work we could have been stuck with that POS as the standard bearer for the 'pubs in 2008. (could still happen).
A suggestion for a sidebar poll: "If Roooty runs as an independent, would you still vote for him?"
Would be interesting to see the FR member percentage on that one.

For his presence during 9/11, I am always grateful.

But he continues to make himself even LESS electable. Maybe 20 years ago it was possible, but the prolife base in the Republican primary is WAY too strong for him to get nominated.

His duplicity and obvious attempt at subterfuge should tell the Rudy supporters something fundamental about him.

But I suspect it won't.

Well, according to CNN’s crawling newstape yesterday, the Pope reiterated his position on those promoting and supporting abortion. If you’re Catholic and you do either of the above, you risk excommunication. Fat Teddy and Rudy, pay attention. Also, a vote for Kennedy and Rudy may earn you excommunication. Same bad news for doctors and nurses performing abortions. The Catholic Church hasn’t changed its views on this, but the Pope is repeating them loudly down in Brazil. (To cheering crowds, no doubt.) Forty million dead in the US. Mindboggling. Horrific. God is not happy.
