After months of giving ambiguous signals on abortion, Rudolph W. Giuliani is planning to offer a forthright affirmation of his support for abortion rights in public forums, television appearances and interviews in the coming days, despite potential consequences among some conservative voters already wary of his views, aides said yesterday.
At the same time, Mr. Giulianis campaign seeking to accomplish the unusual task of persuading the Republican Party to nominate an abortion rights supporter as its presidential candidate is eyeing a path to the nomination that would try to de-emphasize the early states in which abortion opponents wield a great deal of influence. Instead they would focus on the so-called mega-primary of Feb. 5, in which voters in states like California, New York and New Jersey are likely to be more receptive to Mr. Giulianis social views than voters in states like Iowa and South Carolina. They said that approach became more appealing after Florida, another state they said would be receptive to Mr. Giuliani, voted last week to move its primary forward to the end of January.
The shift in emphasis by Mr. Giuliani comes as his campaign has struggled to deal with the fallout from the first Republican presidential candidate debate in which he gave a halting and apparently contradictory responses to questions about his support for abortion rights. Mr. Giulianis aides were concerned both because it opened him up to a new round of criticism from abortion critics who have never been happy with the prospect of a Republican presidential candidate who supports abortion rights while threatening to undercut his image as a tough-talking iconoclast who does not equivocate on tough issues.

Heh. That would make a great tagline.
Otherwise... shut up.
Dont waste the GOP and the American electorates time with this colossal waste of hot air. Thats all the social right has on this too. Hot air. NAME the states. NAME the prison times. Be honest with the GOP and the American people. Dont hide sanctimoniously behind an ultrasound, which are irrelavent unless you ARE WILLING to send women and doctors to PRISON. And TELL US the details

Abortion is murder. Yes, it's really that simple.
If there are 100 pieces in the game, and someone can get 20 of those pieces to quit, then you’re now fighting over only 80 pieces in the game.
Rudy thinks he can win as the anti-life, pro-security candidate when he’s pitted against the anti-life, anti-security candidate.
In other words, he doesn’t think he needs the 20 pieces he got to opt out. Let the vote 3rd party, let them go to Greenland for all he cares. As long as they’re not voting for his opponent, he could care less.
I think, on the other hand, that no matter how liberal he sounds that he will NEVER win the black vote that goes 95% for the democrats even if they run Satan as president with the AC as his VP. Rudy’s plan leads to a general election defeat. The pro-life conservatives have balanced that huge lead the libs have with the African-American vote.
That is totally uncalled for. You owe an apology to the decent people here at FreeRepublic. If you can't be more civil, you should go elsewhere.
Looks like we have a mini bug zapper thread going...
Tommy, to be more accurate on your tag line, substitute “Americans” for “people”.
There you go confirming what I've thought about you all along. Run along and join the other zotted Rudybots ... you will receive a warm reception there.
Thanks, will do!
Getting rid of cockroaches.
And so Rudy publicly exclaims his excommunication from his “faith”. I guess some things are more important than others.
That is perfect! Save that one.
“We don’t need no Stinking Ferrets”
(Snicker), looks like the Rooty Tooters got their talking points from Rooty Campaign Central real early today.
I wonder how many of Rooty's braindead handlers it took to come up with that gibe?
Oh well----try to understand that tearing down conservatives makes these abortion savages "feel" superior........anything to brighten their drab, little lives.
Poor Jake has been plucked, dressed down, cooked and sent home to Rooty Central LOL
The Rudy boosters wail on and on about how Rudy is the only one to protect us from a dirty bomb attack, while disregarding the fact that abortion kills over a million Americans every year.
In other words, they are more concerened about they hypothetical than the carnage that is happening every day in this country.
He imploded, as opposed to exploded.
“Poor Jake has been plucked, dressed down, cooked and sent home to Rooty Central LOL”
Ivan’s Rooty Reject Room.
If one is not in favor of criminalizing abortion (either by targeting providers and/or women), then they are inherently pro-choice.
If/when Roe is overturned, which states do you anticipate would enact prohibitions? How many socons, when push came to shove, would actually vote for such measures?
This is the paradox to Rudy's support - which candidate will be the first to announce that not only do they support state's rights, but also favor prohibition? If they don't, then they too are pro-choice.
Since I don't see any coming out in support of such a policy, the default goes back to the WoT. Right now, for good or bad, Rudy has the WoT in the bank.
