My favorable feelings towards Giuliani are not based on the abortion issue anyways.

I don't want to start an argument with you, sir, but doesn't this man's flipping and flopping on important issues (not only this, but also on gun control) bother you a great deal?

Let’s give Giullani his due. AT LEAST HE AIN’T FAKING IT AND TALKING FROM BOTH SIDES OF HIS MOUTH.

Except that he faked it and talked from both sides of his mouth for two months until it became impossible to reconcile his past with his attempted present.

So much for the claim that Rudy is a straight-shooter, unless you are talking about his unerring aim at his own two feet.

Looks like Obama will be our future president.

Only because of the moralista element of the party who are now shocked -- shocked! -- that Rudy won't impose their moral views on other Americans.

My view? He sucks donkey scrotum on the Second Amendment. But at least he recognizes it as the individual right that it is, and I suppose my difference with him is the extent to which the government can show a compelling interest to override that individual right. It's an honest, intellectual difference, and he's in a vastly different league than the collectivists or Those Who Would Turn US into the UK.

But with all due respect, he is spot on elsewhere. Speaking as a Christian who knows the place of Christianity in public life, I've always known the crackpot Christians would be the death of the conservative movement. Apparently their personal moral views are more important than freedom and national security.

So to those of you who are now shocked, shocked: to hell with you. You deserve what you get.

Have fun with your annual Roe v. Wade marches and your gay witch hunting. You serve the memory of the founders well.

NOT.

“Does Rudy have some special polls that tell him this is viable (being aggresively, in your face pro-choice) - (the earlier primaries are a stupid, short sighted idea).”

I don’t know if he has specific polls on this, but I think he doesn’t have much choice other that to play it this way. There are a lot of Republicans who are infanticide tolerant and San Francisco values friendly. They are sick of what they perceive as domination of the GOP by the Christian right. Whether the Christian right is dominant in the GOP is, of course, debatable. But there is that perception.

Remember that the GOP is largely a political party for merchants. Much of the GOP is not interested in social conservatism: they’re interested in protecting business interests. What influence the Christian right has had on the GOP is a recent phenomenon of the last 30 years or so. I think traditional conservatives ascribe much more influence to the Christian right and traditional conservatism than actually exists within the GOP.

Mayor Giuliani is a political opportunist of the first order. He’s playing a somewhat risky strategy, but it’s one that could very well pay off. An infanticide friendly “conservative” would certainly be appealing to the leftmedia who will provide him plenty of free publicity.

Mayor Giuliani could end up being the GOP nominee outright or as the second place finisher, he could simply decide to run on some sort of “unity” ticket with the Democrats.

I’m worried about Rudy’s police state views. Obama don’t really scare me as president. I am a libertarian and a baptized Christian. I kind of like Obama, but I also like Ron Paul. I can’t stand Mitt. I will never vote for him.

This is all a wonderful story, but it appears as though the Republicans are getting a dose of reality

What do you like about Obama? His far-leftist views? The fact that he couldn’t win in 04 without GOP incompetence?

Yes, by all means, why don’t you share with the gang why you shill for osama obama on all the obama threads? Perhaps you could amplify your remarks where you favorably compare his supposed oratorical skills to Reagan? (http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1789604/posts?page=15#15)

Or how you boast that he will be “America’s FIRST black king” (http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1791324/posts?page=35#35)

It’s unfortunate that you can’t rein in your rank bigotry of Republicans long enough to shill for a Dhimmi...

(So WTH are you doing here when you so obviously belong at DU?)

I like Obama because he knows his African heritage and I don’t know mine. I also think he can UNITE the black world to excel in excellence. That’s why I like him. Yes, he is a liberal leftist, but i can look passed that. He do bring excitement to electoral politics. I do like Ron Paul because I am exactly or a little more libertarian and conservative than he is.

Because he’d only get a quarter of their constituents, if that. That doesn’t say a lot about him, though.

“His lying didn’t work so he’s now going to try a little stiff arming. Will the pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun planks be removed from the GOP platform to accommodate Rudy?”

Here is some proof that Rudy can not win the general election.

He blows off people he disagrees with, and others he does agree with will not vote for him because of the R behind his name, or because they do not trust him.

I am glad I am not a Rudy fan.
