Al Gore preaches his global-warming message to a full house at UMBC (Univ of Maryland)

Former Vice President Al Gore appeared to be mostly a silhouette and Tennessee twang against a backdrop of red charts and depictions of melting glaciers and stranded polar bears last night, but that was all his faithful needed to stay glued to their bleacher seats as he laid out the case for global warming at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.

Wearing a dark suit, dark tie and dark blue shirt, he strode out 45 minutes late to a standing ovation and whistles, greeting the crowd with outstretched arms.

Advertisement For 10 minutes, he served as his own warm-up guy, offering glimpses of the life of an ex-vice president - a state he likened to "emotional whiplash."

"I am Al Gore," he said. "I used to be the next president of the United States."

It's an old joke, and most in the crowd of all ages surely had heard it before, but the line drew laughs all the same.

For the next 90 minutes, he quoted astronomer-author Carl Sagan and channeled Al Roker, the NBC weatherman, pointing to images of menacing hurricanes bearing down on land, of shrinking glaciers and flooded cities.

"These glaciers don't care about politics; they just freeze or melt," he said as he stalked the stage. "This is not a political issue, this is a moral issue."

Gore should be investigated under Racketeering laws, instead the liberal press basically acts as an uninformed advertising platform for his “scam”.

Did the pot smoker hand out carbon-credit coupons?

How might I be so bold as to request such an indulgence from Fr. Gore?

Why is it that Al Gore gets away with saying that global warming is a “moral issue”?

We have all been lectured that we “can’t legislate morality”. On issues such as marriage and abortion, for example, we are lectured that we are trying to legislate morality or that the real issue is a woman’s choice. And on those issues, among others, we are supposed to let liberal judges decide things for us.

But now, with this global warming issue, the liberals indeed do want us to legislate morality. They want to legislate their version of morality.

Or maybe I’m missing something here too. I bet Al Gore would be happy to let liberal judges impose his preferred solution to these problems.

Is the crime of falsely indoctrinating the small minds of our ignorant but youthful young youths still on the books?

Now’s our chance to redeem the death of Socrates.

Ya, moonbats in a flying formation. This Gore quote:

“These glaciers don’t care about politics; they just freeze or melt,” he said as he stalked the stage. “This is not a political issue, this is a moral issue

How does one “stalk” a stage?

Gore Denounces Canadian Government

Former Vice-President Al Gore flew to Canada in order to denounce the Canadian government for its rejection of the Kyoto Treaty. Speaking at a Toronto screening of his movie “An Inconvenient Truth,” Gore said that Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s new climate policy is “a complete and total fraud and fundamentally ignorant.”

“Nowhere in this plan does the Canadian government acknowledge my seminal work on this greatest of crises,” Gore complained. “Neither does the plan mention that my company, Generation Investment Management (GIM), offers opportunities for ecologically-minded investors. The government’s failure to incorporate these facts into its climate planning is designed to mislead the Canadian people.”

The Kyoto Treaty calls for advanced economies to severely restrict greenhouse gas emissions in order to combat global warming. If fully implemented, the Kyoto Treaty provisions are expected to reduce global temperatures by about one-half a degree centigrade over the next century.

“Global warming deniers who harp on the so-called meager impacts of the Kyoto Treaty miss the point,” Gore said. “It’s the process that is important. Centralizing control of the world economy in the hands of the environmentally enlightened is crucial to the world we are trying to make. Quibbling over a degree here or there won’t get us where we want to go. There must be no interference. Everyone must get with the program—including these Canadian troglodytes.”
