there is a real risk in all pregnancy. Many women experience complications and require hospitalization.
My mother started to bleed when she was only 3 months along with me and had to be hospitalized.

A good physician will take steps to save all lives involved.

It appears this was used not as a last resort, but as a first resort.

And this is besides the point that it is irresponsible to implant four embryos knowing the risks.

I read this and was sickened. They DECIDE to implant four embroyos, and then abort two because they had the nerve to take, and somehow we should feel for them and the choice they had to make?

You have no basis for that assumption. Quadruplet pregnancies are extremely high risk, even when the mother doesn't have any complications this early. If they waited until her condition was imminently life-threatening, it would almost certainly be too late to save any of the babies. A woman's body will divert resources from growing fetuses to keep herself alive -- by the time the mother is in desperate condition, the fetuses are in significantly worse condition, if not already dead. Sometimes the best steps are those taken to save as many lives as possible.
