Proud of Two Abortions

The abortion debate brought home He and his wife have always been pro-choice; recently, they were forced to make the Choice. By Dan Neil May 6, 2007

MY WIFE AND I just had an abortion. Two, actually. We walked into a doctor's office in downtown Los Angeles with four thriving fetuses — two girls and two boys — and walked out an hour later with just the girls, whom we will name, if we're lucky enough to keep them, Rosalind and Vivian. Rosalind is my mother's name.

We didn't want to. We didn't mean to. We didn't do anything wrong, which is to say, we did everything right. Four years ago, when Tina and I set out on this journey to have children, such a circumstance was unimaginable. And yet there I was, holding her hand, watching the ultrasound as a needle with potassium chloride found its mark, stopping the heart of one male fetus, then the other, hidden in my wife's suffering belly....

I’m glad you excerpted this article, what was posted was enough to make me sick!

I read this and was sickened. They DECIDE to implant four embroyos, and then abort two because they had the nerve to take, and somehow we should feel for them and the choice they had to make?

LIFE is precious. Why implant more embryos than a woman can safely carry? It was planned to do this and kill the weak ones. That is sick, just sick.

It appears this was used not as a last resort, but as a first resort.

You have no basis for that assumption. Quadruplet pregnancies are extremely high risk, even when the mother doesn't have any complications this early. If they waited until her condition was imminently life-threatening, it would almost certainly be too late to save any of the babies. A woman's body will divert resources from growing fetuses to keep herself alive -- by the time the mother is in desperate condition, the fetuses are in significantly worse condition, if not already dead. Sometimes the best steps are those taken to save as many lives as possible.

“It makes me sick that pigs like that can even have children.....”

Me to. I have recently just accepted that I will never find “the one” and be married, which in turn breaks my heart that I will never have a child. These sick freaks really make me angry. It’s not really envy, it is more like mourning.....

well..you have people making moral judgements based on statistics.
The stats were against 4 embryos surviving - tough for them when they proved to be hardier than expected.

Judging by the way he spouts off opinions and statistics
I think this is one
FAKE, MADE UP STORY!
Who in the HELL would BRAG in the news that his wife had an abortion? I’m sure she is thrilled that all the neighbors and friends know.
(If she actually had one).

“You have no basis for that assumption.”

pot/kettle.
You have no basis for the assumtion that everyone’s life was in dire straits when this procedure was decided upon.
I make my assumption because if the author could have further justified his actions with more detail about the life threatening situation for his wife he would have done so.
But there was no such thing.

“Quadruplet pregnancies are extremely high risk, even when the mother doesn’t have any complications this early.”

Sure they are - everyone knows that.
And yet, sometimes they do make it - and sometimes they don’t.
Many women have early complications with all types of pregnancy “early on” and still go on to give birth.
Some don’t. There are no guarantees here.

You are offerering the “end justifies the means” argument, and I simply do not find it convincing.
People should not intentionally implant more embryos than they can healthfully carry to term.
It is irresponsible.

The liberal thought process continues to astound doesn’t it?

Sounds like she is already having health problems, so perhaps God will see fit not to allow her to carry those girls to term.

IMO, they don’t deserve to be parents.

Very sad. With both of our children I almost lost them at birth. I asked my doctor and my husband to save the babies if it came down to my life or theirs. Purposely stopping the heart of a child is behond me. How can you love the girls and not the boys??

Don’t apologize.

Duplicates happen.

And this article deserves a repost. Shoot, I might even post it myself sometime tomorrow - it’s that important.

I’m reading that many posters thinks this fool made up this story. It’s so full of stereotypical left-wing hatred. You want to think that nobody can be this evil. But - unfortunately - people (liberals) are.

In any event, this story - as sick and twisted as it may be - should serve as an example to normal people on how evil - how perverse - abortion really is.

I’ve always said...... Roe v. Wade began America’s Holocaust.

I just read thru the proposed legislation, and unless someone else has a link, I don’t see this section anywhere. Does anyone have anything different?

John Semmens posts satire, but it works better as its own thread than inserted here. It just ends up confusing people.
