How does GW manage that Texas drawl. I’ve never figured it out. His parents don’t have it and none of his siblings do. He went to bording school in Connecticut. Accents are picked up in the youth. When did he have time?
That’s something I can’t understand either.Good point.
I believe he went through 8th grade in Midland, TX.
When asked what is the main difference between him and his father, he replied, “Midland”. (his father was in the oil business in Midland)

First, I don’t agree that GW has a Texas drawl. He speaks rather plainly but his voice inflection has no drawl or drag to it that I can hear. Now Laura has a drawl. He’s lived with her nearly 30 years. IF he has a drawl, I’d say that’s where he got it.
GW’s “drawl” is just the way we talk.
He grew up in far west Texas, where the accent is more western tang than that of the east Texas drawl. He didn’t go back east for school till he was past childhood. He talks like I do, and like many other people I know.
You may not like W, but he is authentic. You gonna slam Laura for her accent, too?
