Pro-choice Giuliani called acceptable (by Boehner, Tancredo, Brownback)
Washington Times ^ | 5/7/07 | Eric Pfeiffer

Posted on 05/07/2007 8:34:04 PM PDT by NormsRevenge

Two leading Republican lawmakers said yesterday that former New York Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani's pro-choice stance on abortion should not disqualify him from becoming their party's presidential nominee or from receiving the support of conservative voters.

Making the comments were House Majority Leader John A. Boehner of Ohio and Rep. Tom Tancredo of Colorado, one of Mr. Giuliani's rivals for the nomination. Sen. Sam Brownback of Kansas, a social conservative also running for the party's nomination, said during the Republican presidential debate last week that he could accept a candidate with differing views on abortion.

"I think it's an uphill fight on that issue," Mr. Boehner said during an appearance on "Fox News Sunday." "But I think a lot of Republican voters see Rudy Giuliani as competent and able to do the job."

Mr. Boehner has not endorsed the Giuliani campaign. He noted the large delegation of House Republicans who met with former Sen. Fred Thompson of Tennessee two weeks ago and said voters are open to a range of primary candidates.

Mr. Giuliani said during the debate that it would be "OK" if Roe v. Wade were either overturned or upheld, giving no clear approval to reversing the 1973 decision that established abortion as a constitutional right. His nine rivals on the stage strongly approved of overturning Roe.

"It would be OK to repeal it," Mr. Giuliani said. "It would be OK also if a strict constructionist viewed it as precedent."

Rudy Giuliani thinks murdering an unborn child isn’t as serious as murdering a child that has already been born.

Rudy Giuliani thinks that it’s ok to play fast and loose with the Constitution, stop and frisk American citizens for no reason, and when the NYPD did exactly that during Giuliani’s years as mayor, 3 out of 4 people subject to such unconstitutional searches were found to be absolutely innocent.

Rudy Giuliani thinks it is more important to ignore immigration laws, and his lax enforcement of those laws while Mayor of NYC allowed some of the 9/11 hijackers to live right in Brooklyn and prepare for their attacks without fear of being arrested for being in the U.S. illegally.

Those are just three prime reasons why Rudy Giuliani should never serve as President of the United States.

And there are MANY more.

Pro-abort Republicans have as little place in the party today as pro-slavery Republicans in the 1860s. Both are disgusting abominations.

Reagan was a big tent tolerant republican. There was very little of the social issues when he ran, as I remember.

You remember incorrectly.

"We will have no more of those candidates who are pledged to the same goals as our opposition and who seek our support.
Turning the Party over to the so-called moderates wouldn't make any sense at all."

‘Those who appease always get more killed than those who stand up to barbarism’

And yet, you’ll appease to ‘win’ an election. Interesting. Wonder who will get killed if that ever happens.

This is VERY DISAPPOINTING.

Will no one on the Republican stage stand up and just tell Rudy he's wrong, and talk about it as right and wrong?

Very disappointing.

I sure hope so.

It's hard enough to listen to the Rudy-apologists here on FR talk about holding their nose and voting for him, but it's disheartening when other candidates -- alleged conservatives -- talk like they've got a clothespin on their nose.

All I can imagine is that they're afraid to alienate Rudy in case he gets the nod and they are vying for the Veep spot. Ugh. NOW is the time to be pressing for real conservative representation in the platform. I sure don't want some damn gun-grabbing liberal up there asking for my vote on the (R) ticket as well as on the (D).

So I will be patient, and hope you are right and that somebody gets some brass out and talks about right and wrong before too much longer.

He would also drive away large numbers of Republicans. Why do you keep trying to drum up support for a cross dresser? (A liberal dressed up as a faux conservative.)

BTW, are you a registered voter? If so, what party?

that’s right...Reagan was strongly pro-life and many democrats voted for him. I think Rudy would mess up the whole religious conservative vote.

We conservatives need to stop using the politically cleansed terminalogy pro choice. This phrase is absurd and does not drive home our inherit disbelief of its supporters. Pro Life and Pro Choice. What is the opposite of life? Death! It is PRO DEATH! You are saying it is ok for a woman to decide to KILL another human life albeit it is growing inside of her. Democrats are all about taking responsibility out of the hands of the individual and giving it to the “government.” Don’t let the wolves pull the sheeps wool over your eyes and think for yourself. We need to start using the right language to change the discourse in our country. So many people hear pro choice and say oh, they have a choice. What choice is there? Who chooses, oh I will let the baby live. How retarded does that sound to you? When has a woman got pregnant and her first thought was, well should I let this live? It is the opposite, they always assume life first and death second. Although current political conditions are changing that order and now the eco freaks who declare humans a disaster to the earth are not helping. Here is a hint, KILL YOURSELVES SO THE REST OF US CAN LIVE HAPPY AND HEALTHY WITH LESS OF AN IMPRINT ON MOTHER EARTH ECO LOSERS! I got a D in my environmental politics course because I constantly took the position the evidence was sketchy at best and based on assumptions rather than scientific empirical evidence. Guess what state I live in? Here is a hint, the richest men in the world live here and we created the coffee craze!

[You are saying it is ok for a woman to decide to KILL]

That's not what I said at all. You need to work on your reading comprehension skills.

Human or Transhuman - Choose.

Frankenstien's monster was a bad idea.   So is Transhumanism.

I choose Human.
