The President and the First lady spent the weekend in Washington.

On Saturday the President went for a bike ride and encouraged fellow Americans to exercise.

On Sunday he talked about the weekend's devastating storms after attending services at Saint John's Church with the First Lady.

Today he welcomed Queen Elizabeth II to the White House during which they inspected the troops and afterwards the Queen and President Bush went on of her customodary walkabouts and met with local school children and students outside the White House.

This evening the President held a State Dinner at the White House in the Queen's honour. As I am posting there is no photos or guest list on the White House website if this is posted shortly I will will post this on the dose.

Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island

Doesn’t the Queen look just like her grandmother —Mary of Teck?

Thank you for the phenomenal Dose tonight, snugs. There sure was a lot of work with all these wonderful pics!

I just knew President Bush would look as fabulous in white tie and tails as he did yesterday in a t-shirt and shorts. Laura looks like a china doll in that beautiful gown!

And...oh my...the Queen looks great! How does she keep her head erect with the crown and those earrings! Lovely woman!

What a fabulous Dose, Snugs! I echo the comments that it was incredibly appropriate for you to post this!

The Queen looks wonderful. I am so glad that it was a pretty day in Washington today! I love that photo of Dr. Rice and the Cheneys--they look just like regular people spotting a celebrity in the crowd! Very cute photo.

My dh is accompanying our dd and her class on their Sr. Trip. They will be at the WH Wednesday. I told them that they will probably notice the flower arrangements left from the Queen's visit. I also told dd that if she sees GWB or Tony to please tell them that her mom loves and prays for them! :)

I was so impressed by how fast and straight the 81 year old Queen was able to walk on grass to inspect the troops. Hope I can do as well when I’m her age.

BTW, I thought her outfits were quite nice — hats and all. There have been some pundits making fun of them.

"Why does he openly practice monogamy, and even love his wife? Why did he name his dog Spot?.....late 1999, when Bill Clinton was finishing his presidency by pardoning any crook who gave suitable donations, or whose wife he had shagged. The Oval Office carpet had visible stains on it - visible in the public imagination if not in physical fact.....Now you can say anything you like about W, but he does what he says he'll do --- barring Hell or high water, or an Act of Congress. He has a spine of steel, and a traditional sense of honor (taking after his Dad and Mom)."

Ok, I could keep copying and pasting from this article--what a fabulous piece of writing!!!! This is one of the best I have ever read about GWB. Just great! Thank you so much for posting this Deb. I loved it!

I think we’ve finally agreed on ONE THING positive the Clinton’s gave us - great china pattern.

How many years did it take us to figure that out? Whew--it was hard work to come up with something! :)

Some of our "pundits" would probably trip little old ladies as well. They have shown their true nature...and we are not surprised.

The Queen's visit has been spectacular.

“A lady and her handbag will not be parted LOL.”

I wonder what she carries in it? Hankie? Make up? Mints? Same things most women would?

Condi in red and gold...

U.S. Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice (L) poses with pianist Rohan de Silva who had just performed with violinist Itzhak Perlman, during a state dinner for visiting British Queen Elizabeth II in the East Room of the White House in Washington, May 7, 2007. It is the Queen's first visit to the United States in 16 years.
