Eco-Extremist Wants World Population to Drop below 1 Billion [BIG TIME BARF ALERT]
Business and Media Institute ^ | 5/6/07 | Dan Gainor

Apparently, saving the whales is more important than saving 5.5 billion people. Paul Watson, founder and president of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society and famous for militant intervention to stop whalers, now warns mankind is “acting like a virus” and is harming Mother Earth.

Watson’s May 4 editorial asked the question “The Beginning of the End for Life as We Know it on Planet Earth?” Then he left no doubt about the answer. “We are killing our host the planet Earth,” he claimed and called for a population drop to less than 1 billion.

The commentary reminded readers that Watson had called humans a disease before and he wasn’t sorry. “I was once severely criticized for describing human beings as being the ‘AIDS of the Earth.’ I make no apologies for that statement,” the column continued.

Watson was invoking the worst of Robert Malthus, an English political economist who claimed that mankind was overpopulating the earth. That claimed first appeared in the late 1700s. Watson urged some solutions for mankind as part of a process to “need to re-wild the planet”:

· “No human community should be larger than 20,000 people and separated from other communities by wilderness areas.” New York, London, Paris, Moscow are all too big. Then again, so are Moose Jaw, Timbuktu and even Annapolis, Md.

· “We need vast areas of the planet where humans do not live at all and where other species are free to evolve without human interference.”

· “We need to radically and intelligently reduce human populations to fewer than one billion.”

· “Sea transportation should be by sail. The big clippers were the finest ships ever built and sufficient to our needs. Air transportation should be by solar powered blimps when air transportation is necessary.”

· At least Watson was generous and said people could still talk with one another across great distances. “Communication systems can link the communities,” he proclaimed from on high.

The Watson rant kept on going calling for everything from cutting down on the population of domesticated dogs and cats to cutting down on everything else in what he called “simplify, simplify, simplify.”

Watson essentially called for humans to return to primitive lifestyles. “We need to stop flying, stop driving cars, and jetting around on marine recreational vehicles. The Mennonites survive without cars and so can the rest of us.”

Someone drop this nut in the middle of the Wrangell-St. Elias wilderness with a daypack. See if he still thinks the world is overcrowded.

Soylent Green Alert - and the reputation for advocating the worst human death toll EVER! I'd ask what his preferred methods would be to reduce the population to his desired figure. At what point would he embark upon this death purge? As others have asked, would he be willing to volunteer, and I would ask him to FIRST volunteer his family members as well.

These people are "pie-in-the-sky" minds, it is "baby wants the moon" and don't bother me with the details. Unfortunately, like the Idiots from PETA, he makes good copy so he gets the publicity instead of being handled like the nut he is.

This is nothing new.

According to the Global Biodiversity Assessment:

“...an agricultural world, in which most human beings are peasants, should be able to support 5 to 7 billion people...a reasonable estimate for an industrialized world society at the present North American material standard of living would be one billion. At the more frugal European standard of living, 2-3 billion would be possible.”

The "deep ecologists" are more extreme.

Church of Euthanasia Their Four Pillars are:suicide, abortion, cannibalism, and sodomy. If you want to be a saint, kill yourself.

But for the real deal, there's the Voluntary Human Extinction Movement

The reality is that to fix the mess we've made of this planet will take a LOT of people. That's the way G-d wants it done, but you'll never hear that from the "environmentalists." Their plan to save the planet is to get rid of people, which would be absolutely disastrous given the current distribution of exotic weeds and pests.

I'd ask what his preferred methods would be to reduce the population to his desired figure.

If history is any indication, disease is at the top of the list, followed by abortion and starvation (the communists' favorite). Consider the banning of DDT or the starvation of the Kulaks.

Let us start by eliminating eco-extremists.

He presided over the third report which came out last year. He is also considered to be a pirate by the Japanese government. The Japanese Navy might just blow the Sea Shepard out of the water.

“Sea transportation should be by sail. The big clippers were the finest ships ever built and sufficient to our needs."

The Sea Shepherd Conservation Society has purchased a bigger, faster and more powerful boat in its campaign to assert international law and stop Japanese commercial whaling. The 'ice class' vessel, 'Leviathan', is undergoing a refit in the Caribbean before it joins the 'Farley Mowat' in Melbourne ahead of the next Japanese whale hunting season in the Southern Ocean in December.

That's odd. Why didn't they buy a clipper sailing ship?

These are the same people who are against war. I also agree that they should start the depopulating by putting their money where there mouth is but you and I both know they are talking about everyone but themselves.
