A female Democratic Governor takes a chance to Bush-bash to cover for her own incompetence following a natural disaster.

Where have I seen this before?

“the state has a shortage of heavy equipment transport trailers, pallet-sized loading systems, Humvees, dump trucks and other large equipment that would be help move massive amount of debris.”

....and, an OVERABUNDANCE of farm trucks, front end loaders, tractors, hay trailers, etc. etc. not to mention able-bodied men and women.

C’mon...it’s ONE small town.

[no disrespect to those who suffered]

It’s not like this is the ‘FIRST’ nor the last tornado Kansas will see....or am I mistaken....???

The new scale is called the Enhanced Fujita Scale. The designations are EF-0 through EF-5. The EF-5 tornadoes have winds of more than 200MPH.

Standard Republican governor response to disaster; roll up sleeves.
Standard Democrat governor response to disaster; whine.

I knew that Dick Cheney had the H.H.G. that wiped out the Democrat stronghold in south Louisiana, but I was unaware that the H.H.G. could be transformed into the H.T.G. in an effort to wipe out Democrats in Kansas!

Well this really makes me like my Governor a little better now. He has proven several times now that he can handle a natural disaster and not embarrass the state.

I live in Alabama.

Another incompetent Democrat wants to blame our President. Having lived in Kansas it is normal for tornado's to arrive several times a year. If this incompetent ass was not ready for this then she needs to resign.

Ms. Sebelius, I wouldn’t take Blank-O for my role model if I were you - I don’t think she’s even running next time is she? you’re a governor in tornado alley. You should have improvised for this eventuality.

If you get out of the way, I bet the locals, church groups, Wal-Mart etc. can get the job done.

My guess is that there are at least 100 dump trucks, 100 bulldozers and 100 front-end loaders parked on private property and owned by private citizens in a 200 mile radius of where I live.

I would bet that if we had a disaster and governor called for help, at least 50% of the citizens who own these items would volunteer to help out free or for the cost of fuel to run this equipment.

I would guess that the rural citizens of Kansas are made of the same stock.

But why call for volunteers when you can whine like a rat and blame Bush?

You know, if the the last DEMOCRAT President hadn’t decimated the military and congress would properly fund the war, then perhaps she could have some of her equipment back. She stated that this is a “homeland security issue”. Uh, a tornado is not a homeland security issue. It is important not to mix the two. We have real enemies in both nature and the world. Our worldly enemies are, in theory, controlable. Our natural enemies are best dealt with by preparation. You can get “stuff” back. Freedom is a much more questionable proposition.

The key to these stories, like Katrina, is the press’ insistence that the Stafford Act shall never be mentioned.

Look it up; Stafford t=is the blueprint and framework that dictates roles in disaster cleanup.

In brief, it ALL hinges on the governor of a state. If the gov does not ASK for something the gov does not get it.

In Gov Blanco’s press releases you can find her letter to Bush asking for nothing other than help clearing brush and debris- FedGov could do little, due to Stafford.

I expect the same this time, and the best counter to the anti-FedGov propaganda is to make people aware of Stafford and what it means wrt disaster cleanup. MSM will avoid even mentioning the word Stafford; if they do, their whole hate game is over.

This fool of a Governor is mistaking her constituents for the lazy do nothings of New Orleans. This community will pull it together and do whatever it takes to rebuild their lives. They will not lay down and wait for help from the Fed’s when there is work they can do themselves.

If it is a statement of fact, that they are missing equipment, then I have no problem with it.

If it is not true, then it is an attempt at Bush-bashing.
