Carbon credits may reduce only guilt So far, offsets 'yield few if any environmental benefits' ......... How clean is your carbon credit?

Carbon credits are advertised as a way for polluters to offset the greenhouse gases they produce. ....... Worse, reports of fraud and abuse are piling up. Most recently, an investigation by The Financial Times found that companies and individuals "rushing to go green have been spending millions on 'carbon credit' projects that yield few if any environmental benefits."

Actually, the Senate, or more specifically Byrd and Hagel, killed Kyoto ratification 95-0 in 1997.

From Wiki:

On July 25, 1997, before the Kyoto Protocol was finalized (although it had been fully negotiated, and a penultimate draft was finished), the U.S. Senate unanimously passed by a 95–0 vote the Byrd-Hagel Resolution (S. Res. 98), which stated the sense of the Senate was that the United States should not be a signatory to any protocol that did not include binding targets and timetables for developing as well as industrialized nations or "would result in serious harm to the economy of the United States". On November 12, 1998, Vice President Al Gore symbolically signed the protocol. Both Gore and Senator Joseph Lieberman indicated that the protocol would not be acted upon in the Senate until there was participation by the developing nations. The Clinton Administration never submitted the protocol to the Senate for ratification.

Future historians may look at such inanities as “Carbon credits” and regard our era as one where insanity was the order of the day.

The reason the ‘really green’ folks buy into this is simple. It sets the precedent for ‘carbon credits’ on a mandatory world wide scale.

Essentially, the goal is to set a cap on carbon emissions world wide. This cap would then be allocated on a per capita basis. Ultimately, this would lead to a massive transfer of wealth between the developed and undeveloped world and a leveling of living standards at a much lower level than that we currently enjoy in the developed world.

Each year the cap would decrease until we all live in the utopian ‘green world’.

I think conservatives should get behind this idea and become the primary carbon offset providers. I can’t think of a better way to redistribute the wealth of some of these econuts that have more money than sense.

For a thorough de-bunking of Al's root cause of global warming see this link to The Faithful Heretic - a great read from an unimpeachable source - with the added bonus that this article emerges from that bastion of liberals, the UW-Madison.

My dogs have substantially reduced their intestinal emissions since I adopted more effective methods to keep then out of the used kitty litter. Because if this, I’m prepared to sell dog gas carbon credits to anyone who wants to buy them from me at $100 dollars apiece.

I have a very special deal going for guilty-minded environmentalists.

This is a picture of a white cedar tree growing on my property which I will KILL unless you buy the carbon offsets from me!

So this isn't just about some anonymous carbon credits anymore, this has just become personal!

Just look at this magnificent, mature white cedar! This year it's trunk's girth will exceed 8 inches, meaning... THE TIMBER COMPANY WANTS IT!

Sooooooooooo..... this is kind of all up to you.

This wonderful tree can spend the next decade scrubbing the enviro-toxins out of the air because YOU saved it, or it can wind up as plywood by July!

I'm serious. I've done this before. Don't call the police or FBI.

You know what amazes me, is the types of people who buy into this global warming hoax. From NYC Mayors, Senators, Professors all these people who are so-called highly educated. Yet none of them have taken the time to look how ridiculous the evidence is. They all take some wackos word for it. And for this they are willing to destroy entire economies.

Al Gore has literally convinced them that CO2 is like cyanide gas, that it`s some kind of “poison”. It`s just absolutely, utterly, mind boggling, incredible that anybody takes this bonafide psychopath seriously on anything! I swear, if Al Gore declared tomorrow that all the water in the sea is getting flushed down a giant toilet bowl, half the world would believe him!

Yeah, I really get some weird looks when I tell some people that I took out about 8 very large trees because they were blocking the sun from my solar panels. :>)

" In other cases, organizations profit by selling credits for environmental projects they would have undertaken anyway."

Like paying for a tree that was going to be planted anyways? D'oh!

Priceless! I especially like Bryson's comment, "Asked to evaluate the models’ long-range predictive ability, he answers with another question: “Do you believe a five-day forecast?”

Do you believe a five day forecast?

If that doesn't speak a million words on the global warming sham.
