Well before he decided to run for the presidency, Sarkozy learned from President Bush how to talk over the liberal media and speak directly to voters.

I just wish he'd do it more often himself.

It is a real treat watching the commie scumbags in this country just enraged by the defeat of a socialist in France...why, the very idea — how could that happen — LMFAO loving every second of it.

More like “thatcher-lite” than “thatcher-like.”

Perfect is the enemy of good. Better than what they’ve had, IMHO. Thatcher-lite beats Stalin-lite, any day...

Maybe the French were getting tired of the surrender monkey jokes.

Personally, I wouldn’t have a huge problem if France said something to the effect of “we don’t like it, but it is not our affair and we will not oppose it” as opposed to their current policy of constantly trying to run around and stab us in the back over it because they used to sell arms to the Iraqis under Hussein when they weren’t supposed to.

A couple of thoughts...

1) It's way, wayyyyyyyy too early to pop the champagne corks. This guy was against the Iraq Invasion, believes in "stopping" global warming, etc. Everyone should breathe slowly for about six months to see what this guy actually does in office.

2) Royal predicted violence if Sarko won, and boy was she right about that. Funny how when conservatives lose, they gripe for awhile but then they in most cases go back to work / get on with their lives. Liberals, on the other hand: commit vandalism, riot and generally throw a gigantic temper tantrum because they're perpetually immature, don't have jobs that contribute to Society, and generally have no real lives to get on with.

Don’t be sure there’s that much of a difference.

Paris is burning and Sarkozy goes on record that France’s first battle... is to get the US to accept responsibility for Global Warming. Not to secure Paris.

He can go to hell.

“Perfect is the enemy of good. Better than what they’ve had, IMHO.”

“Sarkozy re-stated his opposition to the invasion of Iraq, calling it a “historic” mistake, warning that the US should not make a similar one in Iran. US discussion of the military option is “useless posturing,” Sarkozy said, and he would not support any military action against Iran.”

Sarkozy isn’t even good.

"Get interested in the world and the world will learn to love you. The world is not just the American empire. There's more to it than that."

The US is plenty "interested in the world," thank you very much. We're not only the world's policeman, we're also the world's disaster relief agency. We're number 1 on ever nation's speed-dial when some catastrophe hits somewhere or other. They love us when they need our money, our military support, and our help.

Why do you care if you are called a nationalist? What's wrong with being a nationalist? Since authority is important and good, what is wrong with being called an authoritarian? Oh, and Thatcher doesn't pander to the global warming hysteria, she sees it as the socialist trojan horse it is.

I don't want the world to love us, I want Iranian officers to wake up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat with an irregular heartbeat in animal terror of what we will do do them if they don't reverse course.

I wish they’d stop calling him a “conservative”. He’s only “conservative” if you compare him to a communist. He’d easily be considered a leftist and be reviled on this site if he were an American politician.

On Sunday France elected a pro-American, conservative named Nicolas Sarkozy as its new president.

If we elect a dem here in 2008, we will have the odd situation that France, Canada and Australia will be governed by pro-Americans; but America will not.
