It’s as good a method as any, probably :~)

I have a hard time picking a horse unless I see them in person. I’ve won before looking at who looked more muscular or energetic a few hours before post time.

So far so good. Maybe they’ll get lucky.

What a weekend here in Louisville! The Kentucky Derby AND my moving across town this week. Whew!

Unless we get more of that rain late this afternoon, Churchill Downs should still be a "fast" track. They are the World's Most Legendary Racetrack, after all, and they take perfect care of that dirt track.

I don't like to usually take favorites or even low odds horses. But I like who I like. Street Sense and Nobiz Like Showbiz seem like the obvious choices to me. For longshots I like Zanjero and Dominican.

I like the 15-1 longshot...Hardspun....haven’t bet anything..but would like $10..win and $10 place... and in exacta with Street Sense...$5-$5 reverse. JK

Make it a three way exacta box along with imawildandcrazyguy and you've got a bet with some real play.

Curlin going away, Cowtown Cat second. I’ll be placing my bet here at the OTB shortly. Here is the link to past performance chart, it’s all in there clear as glass.

I know zilch about horses, but have had a fair measure of success at the track just by following the late money. I look for horses with a morning line in the 12-1 or 15-1 spectrum, and when the odds on one of them start dropping sharply just before post, like down to 6-1 or 4-1, I'll bet him heavy. I figure the late money is the smart money. Don't ever place your bet til a minute, or at most two, before post.

I'd sure bet a dollar or two on Cowtown Cat if I could. I really like his looks. Not a very scientific way to bet I know :)

Right there with ya. Being from Louisville, I typically turn into a horse racing encyclopedia and study my eyeballs out this time of year, but I’ve been sick all week (damn upper respiratory infection from hell). I just went with a grey horse and (at least in my humble opinion) a cool sounding name - Imawildandcrazyguy.

Oh - me too. Watching these races, I’d be less nervous and enjoy them more if I knew already that everyone finishes safe and sound.

This is my favorite time of year. I love the Triple Crown races. I think I’ll box Street Sense in an exacta and trifecta with Hard Spun and Scat Daddy, and then put some money across the board on a couple of live longshots like Any Given Saturday and Circular Quay. I may also throw a couple of bucks on Cowtown Cat in memory of my mother, who would bet any horse that had the word “Cat” in its name. Good luck to everyone and enjoy the race.

Edgar Prado is on Scat Daddy... I’d certainly enjoy seeing him win.
