I like to hear that. I'm across the board on Hard Spun and Scat Daddy. Gotta' love Derby Day....yeeeeehaw

I liked Hard Spun's effort in the race. I'll be watching him in the future. It'll be interesting to see if he has something left for the Preakness.

Thought it was pretty cool of the Queen to wear mint green today.

Wonder who that longshot was, if you remember—
the longest prices of Derby winners in that time frame
of 15-20 years ago——
Ferdinand 1986 18-1
Lil E Tee 1992 17-1
Sea Hero 1993 13-1
Thunder Gulch 1995 25-1

I’m trying to figure it out. I’m assuming it was ‘92, or ‘93, according to my daughter’s age. She’ll be 32 this June, and I know she was driving at the time. That’s why I remember she said she had plans to meet her teenage friends and was just too busy to think of accomodating me because of some silly horse psychic. :)

“I guess next year he has to enter even more horses ;~)”

He’ll win when he has 20 horses in the race. Hehehehehe....

Say, you wouldn't happen to know where that horse psychic could be reached?

She probablly owns an island in some tropical paradise by now ;-)

This is late, I know. I work nights and unfortunately slept through the race.

This will certainly age me but the first KD I remember is when Carry Back won and I think that was in the late 50's.

Good race. Happy that Street Sense got it done.

Good call. I loved Street Sense (and was a supporter of his daddy Street Cry).

Did well on the Derby, but missed the 4th place finisher in a super that would have paid $14,000.

ACK!

Hope wins the Triple Crown....but I can’t play him on top in the Preakness. I’ll play a 9/2 favorite in the Derby, but he’s a lock to be less than 2-1 in the next leg, so that pretty much eliminates him from the top spot on my wagers.

it was a great race, what an upset!

Street Sense was the favorite. He paid the most of any favorite to have won a Derby, but it was no upset.

My Derby bet..as was posted on FR....I had the first 2
horses...Profit was...$344.75.
PS: I always bet big races...on horses..that have a
3rd “R” in their name. It was told to me years ago..
Mafia, if the want to fix a race..use this method...
but it is usually more effective on normal Maiden races..where the pasyoff can be bigger..just a tip... JK

Isn't this a great photo?

BADMINTON, UNITED KINGDOM - MAY 06: Kim Severson of the US rides on Winsome Adante during the show jumping on the final day of the Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials on May 6 2007 in Badminton Gloucestershire.

Here's a lot of great photos taken of Street Sense, etc. at the Derby yesterday

I don’t know. I couldn’t answer your question yesterday because we had a bad storm here just before the race was run and my computer went down.

That was a beautiful race, though. Re: Dominican - it doesn’t matter how well you’ve finished in your last two races if you’re pitted against horses that out-class you in your next race. :)

I made them from heat treated 420 stainless steel, pretty much the same thing as a lot of knives are made from. The stuff is not a lot of fun to machine, but it will probably last a lot longer than a standard steel shoe would. I machine a lot of exotic materials, I was wondering if I put carbide spikes in the bottom of them for people who had to ride on ice, like studs on a tire, if that would work.

LOL!

I figured it out. It was Lil E Tee, 1992, only because I now remember it was 17-1. I also remember watching CNN ALL DAY the following year to see if the horse psychic would be on. Isn’t that sad? And all the while, as you said, she was probably basking in the sun on her own island in the tropics! lol

Just noticed this post: I have my own number system I have come to use as an adjunct with other all other considerations and experience evaluating likely winners and / or top finishers. My number system put the top four as STREET SENSE (138) CURLIN AND HARD SPUN tied at 133, and longest price of the field SEDGEFIELD at 131. At the outset I figured I had to eliminate at least two horses in such a large field, so I chose both Imawildandcrazyguy and Bwana Bull. I had a superfecta on 7-8-2-1——and that’s the way they were running very close to the wire until the camera covering it pulled away to focus on the top two. I thought I might have a huge super, then I heard the announcer say “Imawildandcrazyguy” got fourth. They never seem to show you all the payoffs in their coverage of these races, so I had to go to the computer ten minutes later to see it was -7-8—2-5-1 .....my SEDGEFIELD.longest price on the board at 56-1 got edged out right at the wire by a much shorter priced longie crazyguy at 29-1. THAT super as you know paid $29K. Mine would have paid 60-90K probably. Very sad moment for yours truly. In case you were wondering my very simple number system involves adding the top BEYER number for the last four races with the total number of horses beat in the last four races. Of course this info is only available if you are using the Daily Racing Form.
