I agree with your general sentiments regarding today’s Mormons.

However, please be aware that there is much more to the story of the early Mormons. It is interesting that of the hundreds of bizarre cults running around America at the time, only the Mormons provokes massive popular resistance.

While I’ve never been able to find a compilation of the number of Mormons directly killed by gentile mob action over several decades, it is likely that Mormons killed more gentiles than that in the single incident of Mountain Meadows.

BTW, most religions have highly unpleasant events in their history. What should be important is their behavior today. We should not, however, ignore the facts of history.

No one knows for sure what happened at Mt Meadows; pure speculation.

“only the Mormons provokes massive popular resistance” - You forgot about the Catholics.

“most religions have highly unpleasant events in their history”

The would be the biggest understatement in the history of mankind.

Mountain Meadows is a tragic, despicable incident with no excuse. Over a hundred people lost their lives.

I don’t have exact figures either, but between the persecutions and the process of fleeing them, the number of Mormons killed was in the thousands. Add to that the numerous times that the Mormons were beaten, assaulted, robbed, and had their property confiscated.

Well, there were reasons for all of that but that was then and this is now.

Or the number of folks massacred by mormons on 9/11/1857.

Mormons owned and delivered terror on 9/11 long before Muslims did.

Murdering every man woman and child in a wagon train over the age of 8, after promising to lead them to safety (after of course having them disarm) and then turning on them.

I don’t hold Mitt guilty for the actions of his ancestors, and I’ve found most Mormons to be very moral people... but anyone who’s been to Salt Lake City and isn’t a Mormon, will generally tell you, Mormonism is more Cult than Religion.

I don’t oppose Mitt because he’s a Mormon, in fact, could care less.... I’m just not convinced of his stands. Many are flip flopped and he’s not very impressive to me, at least what I’ve seen.

You seem to ignore previous to the MMM when Missouri's governor, Lilburn Boggs, issued his infamous Extermination Order of all Mormons.

Except for Islam, these specious arguments about members of one “faith” being MORE responsible for “murders” compared to members of other “faiths” never can compare to the number of murders committed by atheists and agnostics, murders in the name of........nothing except raw human malice and perversion.....nothing at all to do with any vision of “God”.

I will not vote for a man who believes that there are many gods in the universe, and that he, himself, can become god after he gets to heaven.

I suggest you read up on mormonism a little bit, it is a strange religion, and is NOT based on Christianity at all.
