Gonzales disagrees more guns on college campuses would ward off violence

OKLAHOMA CITY - Attorney General Alberto Gonzales said Wednesday that having more guns on college campuses is not the way to prevent campus violence like the massacre at Virginia Tech. Since the April 16 shootings that left 33 people dead, including the gunman, at Virginia Tech, some have suggested that the carnage might have been lower if a student or professor with a gun had stepped in. "I don’t think that is the answer quite frankly," said Gonzales, who was participating in a governor’s task force to study safety and security on Oklahoma college campuses. Instead, authorities should enforce existing laws concerning the ownership and use of handguns, he said.

I’d suggest to at least let the profs be armed but in most cases, they’re the nuttiest dolts on campus.

So much for the exercise by putative victims of their indivudual rights of self defence.

What Gonzalez implies is that to defend oneself, a citizen must disregard firearms concealed carry laws and property owners stipulation of "gun free zones" which are a myth, BTW.

So hard to believe that our politicians and bureaucrats are so removed from basic reality.

I would carry anywhere, anytime to exercise my right of self defense. Many Americans will have to face that fact and act in civil disobedience in order to have their constitutional rights, under what is now stare decisis law on the 2nd amendment, in Washington , DC anyway.

I actually don’t even think Brownie did a bad job. It wasn’t his job at all. FEMA was not a first responder, and thus wasn’t prepared to be. The administration let that get out of hand. They should have made it very clear that it wasn’t there job, but on seeing the state falter, they swooped in and cleaned up the mess.

On one hand Gonzales should be gone for his anti-civil rights positions and behaviour, but unfortunately the call for his resignanation is for a non-issue.

If the left would get it right, then more people would get behind the movement to remove him.

Did I just read what I think I just read???

Enforce "existing" laws?

More STATE and FEDERAL(!) involvement?

Treatment can be very effective??

Even anti-gun liberals (and cops) who believe that only cops should have guns know that you can't "treat" your way out of a crime already in progress.

Unf***ingbelievable.

He is stuck on stupid!

He is so stupid that he can't understand that the only honorable thing to do is resign. Every day he remains in office is another day of embarrassment for the administration and himself.
