Giuliani Adopts Moderate Stand on Immigration
The New York Sun ^ | May 2, 2007 | Russel Berman

WASHINGTON — Addressing a group of Latino small business leaders, Mayor Giuliani yesterday adopted a moderate stance on immigration, emphasizing the need to beef up security at the borders while maintaining America's tradition as the world's most popular destination for people seeking a better life. Mr. Giuliani articulated much the same position on immigration that he has on the campaign trail, but he began with a softer tone, casting the country's attractiveness to immigrants as a strength to be preserved. "America is the country that more people want to come to than any country, I think, in the history of the world,"

Can't we do any better than this? U S schools have been overrun with Hispanics and test scores are down. Health care has suffered...Have you tried to get in to see your doctor recently? How about law enforcement of these aliens? Is sherrif Arpaio the only one who cares about immigration laws?

Rudy doesn’t know what he wants. His advisors are telling him what to say.

I’m certainly watching the RNC Thursday night.

Good Lord. Captain Pander of the Weasel Patrol can only muster this namby pamby level? If this is a rightward shift for him, we are all in trouble if he gets the nomination. But we knew this.

ANY candidate — REGARDLESS OF HIS PERSONAL PHILOSOPHY (and I’m NOT a Guliani supporter due to his waffling and anti-2nd Amendment posture) — wishing the nomination WILL be quickly lassoed and pulled back onto the Demopublican reservation by the increasingly out-of-touch, disconnected elites who run the RNC/DNC and control the money.

WE NEED A VIABLE THIRD PARTY as the current ones are rotten to the core.

I hope this comes out big on the Thursday night debate. This issue affects all others. The illegal aliens are ruining our Country.

No we don’t.
WE just need the GOP to nominate a Republican, is all.
Note: the three “fromntrunners” aren’t.

I'm not eager to vote for anyone who adopts a Moderate Stand on any issue.

The Leftists are pushing an extreme agenda. Any mild response from Republicans will result in a "compromise" that moves this country further to the Left.

I wish the moderate stand was fine, you can come and work but like every other immigrant, we are not going to pay for it.

You work, take care of your families but no free schools, medicine, housing, food. The American people should not be burdened with paying for your family while you make money and send it back to your home country.

Rudy: couldn't you have at least said, "... casting the country's attractiveness to LEGAL immigrants as a strength to be preserved."?

Mexicans have reach critical mass here and they are displaying the behavior that goes with it - flaunting their electoral clout and intimidating candidates and parties into accommodating them. YOu think this is fun? Just wait till the arabs do the same thing, but their displays will not be limited to or necessarily include electoral clout: they want to kill us - lots of us. And, merely because many people want to come to America does not mean that I have to let them in. This is my home and I do not have to do this. They have no RIGHT to come in here. I get to decide. Get your guns and save yourselves if you still can.

Yes, but the Supreme Court and ACLU says we have to have to give them free schools and medical care. How can the taxpayers get relief? What about the “anchor babies?” Children born in US from people illegally here should not be granted citizenship status, don’t you agree?

Yes, I know he does - and look at how much traction he is able to get. Pathetic. I support Rudy because he can win, but I am not at all opposed to Hunter.

If the courts say if you are born on American soil, you are an American, turn every hospital into an diplomatic zone. Then, technically they are not on American soil.

Yeah. It’s already started. And your right. They not only hate us. They want to convert or kill us.

Try going into an emergency room when you have a real emergency, like if you have a kidney stone or a puncture on your foot. You’ll have to stand and wait because of all the uninsured illegals getting treatment there for sniffles and non-emergency care because they by law can’t be turned away.

If not, wait a few years, and that will be your reality if we don’t act soon to solve the problem.
