Los Angeles ranks as the smoggiest city in the United States, according to an annual report card released Tuesday by the American Lung Association. It leads the nation in all three major air pollution categories, short-term particle pollution, year-round particle pollution and ozone pollution.

Yes I remember that and I still hear people parroting that line “Houston is the most polluted city in the country”. You could take a trip to Phoenix or Denver and see that wasn’t true.

Remember, that 96-hour figure is an average of all commuters in each metro area -- which means it includes those who live 15 minutes away from where they work, too.

LA has always been the dirtiest city except during the 2000 and 2004 Presidential campaigns when Huston (IIRC) suddenly became the dirtiest place in the country.

The obvious thing to report about the LA Freeway extension: The Sierra Club, showing itself to be corrupt and simply anti-human, is CAUSING massively higher levels of smog, by making people remain for hours in idling cars.

If you want to reduce smog, build efficient roadways.

Here is the biggest part of the lie about pollution and cars - it is buildings that generate 60% of our usage of fuel and cause way more problems than cars in the air quality issue.

I think it is time for everyone to move back into tents and go to markets like in Iraq to do business - time to return to the 14th century like the EnviroWackos and the Arabs want - not.

That graph reminds me of a year in my college career. After growing up in western Canada, I spent the 1972-73 school year in Pasadena. After a year of eye-burning smog, I left Caltech for MIT. I remember sitting under the air conditioner in a lecture hall, where the cold air coming out felt like 10% sulfuric acid. It etched my eyeballs.

It’s much better now, but no liberal will admit it.

Agreed.
Same experience when my family took me there in the seventies as a child.

Our eyes would burn, get headaches.

That does not happen anymore.

The perception and the reality are two different things.

And liberals will exploit the ignorant every time and quite successfully.

The locals here in Fresno had to provide a new plan to the EPA or else risk losing $2 billion in highway funding. If they continue to resist building freeways, more and more cars will be stuck on two lane roads driving into Fresno from the surrounding areas. I hope the EPA accepts extension they requested, but the greenies are fighting it tooth and nail with all the lies and melodrama they can muster.
