Russian youth movement activists banned from entering Estonia

Estonian border guards have not allowed activists of the Nashi youth movement, who left for Estonia in two different tourist groups, to enter the country.

"Seven activists of the Nashi movement, including girls, who have tourist visas to Estonia, were not allowed to enter the country," press secretary of the movement Anastasiya Suslova told Interfax on Tuesday.

The refusal paper handed out to young men states that "they constitute a threat to Estonian state security and that they are banned from entering the country for five years," she said.

Activists wanted to make certain that the remains of Soviet soldiers were reburied and that the Bronze Soldier monument was installed at a cemetery in good order and condition, the press secretary said, adding that they also wanted to hold a picket in dresses of Soviet soldiers atop the Tonismagi hill in downtown Tallinn, where the monument was initially erected.

Activists were detained in the town of Narva, Suslova said. They are returning to Moscow and will come to the Estonian embassy to Russia on Wednesday to assist an infinite protest action staged by activists of the Nashi, Rossiya Molodaya, Mestnyye, Molodaya Gvardiya, Volgograd based Novyye Lyudi and other youth organizations, she said. ar

My high-school Chemistry teacher:
"Anywhere you find a Soviet, you will find a Lithuanian poking him with a stick. Since the Soviets outnumber the Lithuanians, it more accurate to say that anywhere you find thirty Soviets, you will find a Lithuanian poking them with a stick."

It didn’t. The Lithuanian press reported yesterday that a bunch of “yoots” were planning to travel to Tallinn to meet the “yoots” coming down from St. Petersburg.

Those Lithuanian “yoots” should realize if Moscow had their way, Putin’s tank divisions would be pulling another 1940, swiftly rolling over the all three Baltic nations borders and making sure not only Russian communist statues remain.

Yeah, and then it might be another fifty years until the Russians sulk their way back to Moscow like a dog with his tail between his legs.

Nashi is the 'unofficial' youth wing of the official Kremlin organized & fully supported, Putin rubber-stamp United Russia Party.

Nashi (Ours) is an offshoot of the pro-Putin youth movement Walking Together.

"Nashi leader Vasily Yakemenko said the United States was causing bloodshed from Iraq to Afghanistan and warned Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice against stirring tensions in Russia. 'If Condoleezza Rice escalates tension here, it's possible there will be a situation where people here could die too. The U.S. needs to think less about what is happening here and more about what is going on in Iraq,' he said." source

Today's Russia resembles Germany in the 1920s and early 1930s.

Putin nominates Moscow Region governor Boris Gromov for new term

'A person with a military background, Gromov was first deputy interior minister of the Soviet Union in 1990-1991. From December 1991, he was deputy commander-in-chief of the Russian Ground Forces, and Russia's deputy defense minister from June 1992 through March 1995. In December 1995 Gromov was elected member of the State Duma (parliament's lower house), but resigned January 13, 2000, when he was first elected governor of the Moscow Region. Gromov was re-elected for another term in 2003, and joined the board of Russia's State Council in December 2003.'
