The Westies, Cho Sueng-Hui and an Opportunistic Bigot Named Patrick J. Buchanan

Like Congressman James Moran in search of an excuse to confiscate privately-owned firearms, Pat Buchanan seeks to glom onto the tragic shootings at Virginia Tech. Like James Moran, Pat Buchanan reeks of execrable thinking and primitive hatred. Both men are truly Sons of Erin. However, just because I like green beer and rooting vehemently against Notre Dame Football, I’ll decline to follow the path of bigoted hate-mongering tread by the odious Patrick J. Buchanan in today’s column.

Buchanan attaches profound significance to the fact that Cho Sueng-Hui had a green card. Boy, that detail comes in handy, when you want to unjustly tar the reputations of over 1 million of the hardest working, most patriotic citizens the United States of America. Buchanan makes the hateful claim that because Cho was a murdering psychopath, none of the hard-working, dedicated business people of Korea, who have opened up shops in places like Annandale, Virginia, should ever have been allowed to come here and pursue their dreams.

What was Cho doing here? How did he get in?

The same way your ancestors got here; bigot. His parents scraped, saved, and barely made it for years while running a shoe-string family business. They benefited from the same beneficent mind set that made people in Boston and New York take down all those evil “Irish Need Not Apply” signs from the windows of their business establishments.

Cho was among the 864,000 Koreans here as a result of the Immigration Act of 1965, which threw the nation's doors open to the greatest invasion in history, an invasion opposed by a majority of our people. Thirty-six million, almost all from countries whose peoples have never fully assimilated in any Western country, now live in our midst.

Well gosh Patrick, you could say that about almost anyone from the Far-East. How dare these people come over here and walk around looking less of the Caucasian Persuasion than either you or I?

Cho was one of them.

Cue the cheesy horror music. Pat stops just short of asking for a good, thorough Kystalnacht to cleanse these guys the Serbian way.

And what does it mean to be one of them? Does that mean you drive a used Toyota instead of a brand, new German Luxury Car? Maybe your haircuts cost $10.50 instead of $400.00. These people live in an America that neither Patrick J. Buchanan nor John Edwards can remember the first thing about.

Or perhaps that implies you sink everything your family owns into a hard and sometimes demeaning small family business, so that you can afford to send your children to college. You know, like Middle Class Americans. Those people Patrick J. Buchanan hasn’t seen, heard from, or had anything to do with since his last, and blessedly abortive, run for The Presidency.

A similarly ignorant argument could also be made about Patrick J. Buchanan’s forefathers. The courage and noble dignity of The Irish Brigades be damned. Never mind that they gave it up for America like no one else who wasn’t brought here a slave.

The Infamous Westies were Irish Americans. I’ll betcha’ Mom and Pop didn’t even check their bags through Ellis Island. They shot so many people. They didn’t even have Cho’s insanity defense. It was all just takin’ care of bidness’. They were no more assimilated to our culture than Tony Montana; face down dead in his swimming pool.

So should we let Patrick J. Buchanan wear green on Saint Paddy’s Day? It could be a sign of his total lack of assimilation. He might even be one of them. I think we should let it go. Like the Korean cuisine my wife can cook so well, it adds flavor to our nation.

Despite the terrible consequences of Patrick J Buchanan being here, I think we should be good to Irish Americans and welcome further immigration from their country. In other words, we should be a whole lot more decent to them than Patrick J. Buchanan is to the poor, undeserving South Koreans.

He hates Jews, all but denies holocaust. He drools hate when speaking of Hispanics. He sided with Milosovich against Bosnians who were being slaughtered. He wrote books dissing Americans entry into WWII. He must have thought Hitler wasn’t such a bad guy otherwise the thought of letting him conquer Europe doesn’t make sense. Now he’s attacking Asians. I don’t know he sounds like a racist to me.

Articles like this always bring out the closet leftists who start screaming about discrimination and hate crimes. The fact is that inviting millions of unassimilated foreigners into this country is national suicide.

1) I genuinely believe that the man is a bigot. I'm married to a Korean woman; someone he would refer to as one of them.

2) By associating his name with GOP, he has elected Democrats with nearly as much success as Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson. He is a plague to anyone who doesn't want to see The Democratic Party in power. Any liberal commentator who wants to brainwash the mass into thinking Conservative = *NAZI!!!!!* immediately drags out PJB as prima face evidence.

3) He has a history of demeaning anyone he doesn't feel is American enough; to be in politics. Re. Senator Phil Gramm who was also married to a Korean.

4) He is a base hypocrite. He bemoans American job loss from the porch of his palatial mansion. He rails against our trade with other nations; while buying his wife a German luxury car. All he needs is the $400.00 haircut to be the Conservative John Edwards on Populist issues.

"He hates Jews, all but denies holocaust"

Putting America before Israel is not hating Jews.

So favor the establishment of a fence on the US border. Continue increasing the number of deportations of undocumented aliens by 20% a year, exactly like we did in 2006. That will solve that problem.

Claiming 850,000 Koreans should never have been allowed to come here because one of them went nuts is disingenuous. It is no more honest than the gun-grabbers who are milking the Va. Tech shootings the same way Buchanan does here.

Flame away folks.

No flame from me. I read Buchanan's article and I didn't see anything vile about it. The article was about things we are reaping because of our immigration policies (or lack thereof). There was no singling out of any particular ethnic group and the crimes mentioned were committed by aliens from many countries. I can understand that some would think Buchanan used too broad of a brush, but it was clear to me he was talking about aliens who do not, for various reasons, assimilate into our "melting pot" culture. The "politically correct" attitude that we can not even discuss problems brought about because of our immigration policies because that would be "bigoted" is a liberal attitude that has, and will, prevent this Country from rationally dealing with the issues of immigration, both legal and illegal.

“The Gangs of New York”.

You're talking about another time in our history where we allowed to much immigration, too fast, by 3rd world uneducated criminal type aliens. We were smart enough to put a stop to it. Can't say we are that wise now. The point Buchanan was trying to make and missed by most readers and him, is that the USA (USCIS) is not vetting new immigrants. They gave legalization to thousands with no review, they couldn't even find the files. Blanket amnesties, like the one given the Koreans with no vetting gets us undesireables, no matter what country they come from.

Just as I thought. You didn't want to discuss the article but just spew undocumented hate Pat rhetoric. Adios.

I agree, however, that is not what Buchanan does. I used to think he was just “putting America first” but the more I’ve read and listened to him over the years...well, I don’t think that’s it. There is something very disturbing lurking in the soul of Buchanan.

Ross Perot handled that job himself. Buchanan’s LBO of The Reform Party was a sure sign that it already had no future. Besides, if The Rp were still vital, we’d still be getting Gored, so let’s not get Kerried away.

Now come on, Pat lost a beloved family member in a Concentration Camp. He fell out of the guard tower.

I'm not questioning whether or not this is true, but from a logical standpoint, it would appear that everyone is the hardest working most patriotic citizens. I mean, what group is not the hardest working, most patriotic citizens? From a simple factual standpoint, it can't be the case that more than 50% of the citizens are the hardest working, and most patriotic. Which are they?

Why do you think Pat Buchanan is regular guest on PMSNBC? He calls himself a conservative which in publics eye means republican. He then spews his brand of hate and turns off voters from minorities from looking at republicans. Old Pat and his ilk have done more damage to the view of conservatives then anything the dems have done.
