I swear, just about every news account has mentioned that he was on his way to the Don Imus-Rutgers meeting. Is it really that important where he was going? Is it just another attempt to make the public aware that as a good Democrat, the governor was rushing to weigh in on that important issue?

Is the problem with the mainstream media really that it provides too much background? That it doesn't cut out enough context? And it is a mighty stretch to read a partisan motive into a one-sentence statement of fact.

Is it really important that he had to make a political statement about Don Imus? Isn’t it more important that he was badly injured, but that he will apparently recover?

His recover is more important than the fact that he was doind to meet with Imus. That's why Imus doesn't appear until the sixth paragraph out of seven.

Screw his seatbelt apology...

Personally, I couldn’t have cared less if the leftist elitist self serving bastard had killed himself through his own stupidity and reckless disregard for others....

How about an apology for putting other folks at risk by driving over 90 in a non emergency situation?
How about apologizing to his State for being away from his duties, as a result of his own negligence and recklessness?
How about the loss of a state owned vehicle?

As an aside - he needs to hire a driver with more sense and skills than the one he had...

There was an unfounded (so far) allegation that the driver was text messaging.

Didn’t see any info on the speed of the Gov’s motorcade as he made his way to the Mansion.

One thing is for sure.....no way could he have been wearing a seatbelt in his current condition.

They had to hurry to the mansion. He was ready for the next dose of painkiller.

Further, his injuries just about insure he was not wearing a seat belt this time so it was important to arrive quickly.

Check this link.

The article also describes a van he just bought and had outfitted for his wheelchair.

"The 60-year-old governor was riding in the front passenger seat of an SUV driven by a state trooper on April 12..."

Governors seldom ride in the front passenger seat, especially with a cute young woman in the back.

Interesting that the news media mentions her less than Imus in regards to his crash...

I am pleased that Gov. Corzine is recovering so well. It was a terrible accident and he is truly lucky to be alive. No doubt many are now aware of the importance of wearing seatbelts. However, will Gov. Corzine have to pay the $60.00 or so fine for not using his seatbelt? If you were stopped, you would sure have to pay it. And what about that state policeman who was driving? Why is he not being held accountable for exempting Corzine from the state seatbelt law? Oh, wait a minute — they are all “in leadership!” I forgot.

***The governor’s Suburban was traveling at 91 mph when it was clipped by a truck and lost control, slamming into a guardrail. Corzine wasn’t wearing his seat belt, as required by state law.****

The governor has promised to fight this problem by calling for more gun laws. /Sarc off

I’ve heard people say this, and I suppose it’s true, but does anyone worry about a seatbelt when they ride on a bus? On a train?

That’s what I first thought too. But Corzine is well known for sitting in the front seat of his chauffered vehicle - as are past New Jersey governors. All other governors claimed they buckled up when asked by the press.

There must be something in the water.
