I think they use “q” rather than “k” in their transliterations because the Arabic sound is not exactly a “k” sound.

I think they use q rather than k in their transliterations because the Arabic sound is not exactly a k sound. That's it. You see the "k" spelling a lot in their older translations, such as the tranlastion of Arabian Nights I have.

LOL! Pobably originally intended as some kind of “BashBush” thing, but, really, it’s funny. “Somekindastan” and “Islamisbad” - truly laughed out loud.

Seen it spelled both ways. One is probably just and English version.A language with which you appear to be unacquainted. :-)

He corrected himself immediately. No one here has ever misspelled a word and immediately corrected it? NBD here.True, but can you imagine if President Bush had done this?

He was probablay just trying to save face for the teacher who handed him a card with the incorrect spelling on it as happened to Dan Quayle. ( /s )
Since he corrected himself, I guess he won't be mocked a thousand times about it....nothing to do with being a leftie.
To: napscoordinator
Come on he is a conservative, give him a break.Um, no, he's not.

Is he liberal? I thought he was the opposite of Chris Matthews. I really don’t watch either but I just thought they were a Hannity and Combs type but on there own shows.
To: SolidWood
You said: IRAK is the German and I think also Spanish spelling.

Very likely, but I think Russert was trying to speak English at the time.
