Paul Perry didn't know anyone in Fresno County Jail. So why was he getting mail from someone behind bars?
Inside the envelope was a piece of paper with two scribbled sentences that changed his life: "Your nothing but a piece of black s--- you stupid n------. Wait until I get out of here."

In essence, the article states that the harassment was engineered by a correctional officer who was being sued by Perry. No doubt it will be made into a HBO special.

Pretty disturbing to think that this guy could do this for as long as he did.
Some lawyer will find a way to make a victim out of this guy.

When someone burns a cross on your lawn the best firehose is an AK-47.
That is, unless you live in Kalifornia. Maybe a sign that simply says “Oh Please don’t kill me!” would do the trick.

Mr. Perry should never be unarmed. Maybe hard to do where he is but if not, I believe someone is going to kill him.

I hope this guy meets at least one of the inmates he provoked with a letter while he’s incarcerated

Here in Sacramento we just fired a woman and a man at the county jail. They were having sex with an inmate. When are these jailers going to understand you can’t trust people in jail.

CCWs are hard to get in Fresno County. Perry would need one now if anyone did.

If he is put in jail, he would be in protective custody. There is no way the correctional officer would be put into the general population.

The gist of the article isn’t so much that the officer trusted the inmates. What he did, according to the article, was write phony letters to the inmates, making them think the letters came from Perry. Perry is scared out of his wits because all of a sudden he was getting angry letters from people he didn’t know!

I agree. This man suddenly found himself being the target of some very angry mail. I wish him luck. Locally though, I expect this to hit the news stations. I don’t know if it is something the natioal media wants to cover.

Mims said it was not a "shining moment" for the agency and that Copher should have started an official investigation. But Mims said she blames Copher's failures on a lack of training and said he won't be reprimanded. As usual the bureaucrat utterly fails and is not held accountable. If the falsely targeted Mr. Perry had been murdered by one of these ex-convicts no one would have been the wiser and the triggering lawsuit would merely fade away. This was a premeditated hit job that fortunately was not successfully executed.

Sheriff Margaret Mims said it was not a "shining moment" for the agency ... I guess not.
Be careful out there, Jim.

Uh, no one figured out this guard was trying to get Perry killed? He obviously was hoping the gang would off Perry as a way of getting out of the lawsuit. He should have done a lot more time than he got (less than one year).
