Britain Gets Over-Surveillance Warning By Staff Apr 29, 2007

Britain's information commissioner is poised to tell the government it's gone too far with anti-terror video surveillance measures.

The Independent reported Sunday that Richard Thomas will warn a parliamentary committee about the "slow social suicide" he claims the country is committing with its video cameras, which number about 4 million, or one for every 14 people.

The Home Affairs Select Committee is holding hearings into the expansion of surveillance that includes monitoring microphones being placed in street lamps and offices, the London newspaper said.

Ahm, because the people of Great Britain have allowed socialism to dominate their sovereignty to the point of having to take a milk toast action to to keep terrorism at bay.

What is the percentage of muslims in the population of Great Britain these days?

Coming to our shores soon also if not stifled by our representatives in government.

We scoff at the French and the British while the same thing is happening here.

Like it can’t happen here? Or that it hasn’t already?

I believe that it is happening here as well. I’d say we are about ten years behind Britain. I’m not sure how we can stop it. It scares the hell out of me.

Utter valuelessness. Utterly stupid to think that having a police man on patrol is just FINE but having a public camera posted (and the area clearly marked as being patrolled by a camera) is some how a threat to civil liberties. I just came back from England and this program is utterly NO threat to “Civil Liberties”

Frankly this hyper hysteric panic and hand wringing by the rabid Know Nothings here about this topic is getting extremely sickening. All the Camera does is allow the patrol van to monitor a greater spread of ground and respond quickly to criminal behavior. It is UTTERLY NO different then having an office on patrol. NO DIFFERENT. To claim it is some how a threat to civil liberties to patrol PUBLIC PLACES with cameras rather then police officers is absurd hysterically stupid nonsense.

He gazed up at the enormous face. Forty years it had taken him to learn what kind of smile was hidden beneath the dark moustache. O cruel, needless misunderstanding! O stubborn, self-willed exile from the loving breast! Two gin-scented tears trickled down the sides of his nose. But it was all right, everything was all right, the struggle was finished. He had won the victory over himself. He loved Big Brother.

And you do.

Well, the Brits can’t be trusted with guns so I suppose they do need a higher level of supervision than we do.

Looks like the clueless hysteric around her need to seek professional help for their rabid paranoia. Hate to clue the Libertines in but having a camera monitor public grounds is utterly NO different then having a police officer patrol the same ground.

It is this sort of hysteric nonsense chicken little behavior that will keep the Libertines forever an irrelevant political splinter faction. WE, as a society, have the right to defend ourselves from those that mean to do harm. This mythical Libertine notion that they have an unlimited right to do anything anytime anywhere with NO consequence is stupid childish nonsense. We also have a right to protect ourselves. Until the Libertines come to grips that with rights comes responsibilities they will just be a noise pack of utterly clueless children.

There is nothing even remotely “libertine” about not wanting the government to watch our daily lives through ubiquitous video camera surveillance. Additionally, there is no need to be rude.

The real reason the UK needs cameras on every corner is immigration from its former colonies. But that’s not mentioned in this article. They’re not assimilating, so they have to be monitored.

Of course residents in the UK are not free to speak their mind on these things. They might be caught on government cameras and brought up on hate speech charges.

But don’t mind us, we’re just “libertines.”

If you aren’t doing anything illegal, you have nothing to worry about. /Sarcasm

I guess it was utterly too much to expect any sort of rational thought on a Libertine ping. So much easier for them to mindlessly cling to their absurd Anarchists dogmas and hyper paranoia then to ever bother to THINK about anything.
