Americans and Europeans must stop the ungodly, immoral rape of taxpayers by the totalitarian, socialist welfare state of liberalism! They must establish a proper and godly system of family, church and private charity. Everyone should follow God’s clear guidance in this matter. God will reward people mightily for their total obedience in these matters.

This is nonsense.

If the author truly believed in the Biblical principles of caring for the poor and those unable to fend for themselves he would not have his panties in a twist over Government using our tax dollars to do so.

If we are truly a caring charitable people, and our Govt is of the people and for the people, then there is absolutely nothing wrong with Govt aid for the poor and elderly.

Tax dollars are used for lesser things all the time.

However the degree to which taxes are used for this is certainly debatable.

In a Theocratic Society, tithing makes sense.

Tithes were intended to support the Government, and not some external religious establishment. You won’t see the truth of that, just like most.

In a secular system of Government, taxes are inevitably exploitatism, and inadequate for the regime, at any level.

I do not know you, but, if you want to talk about folks getting their knickers in a twist, I’d advise you to remove the mote from your own eye first.

I appreciate that you have a heart for the poor, but I'm afraid I must take serious issue on this subject.

If we are truly a caring charitable people...

Those who are charitable do not need the government to help them give to the poor.

Those who would force another to be charitable are not demonstrating any charity themselves, anymore then who would not give if not forced. Thus does an enforced charity system has no charity in it.

Without love, no act of "charity" is worth anything to God. Huge bureaucracies like our government do not act in love.

Trust in God. Not in Government.

The government takes so much of our money (at least half when it’s added all up) that we are unable to care for our own families the way we should be able to.

No, it is not right, nor is it constitutional, for our government to take our money and distribute it the way they see fit. That’s not what the Federal government was constitutionally created for.

The government also inserts itself in the place of family, which is also wrong and unbiblical.

It’s great that you have compassion and a will to help the poor and needy, as we all should, but it’s not biblically right for government to take our money and mandate these things, nor is it in line with our Constitution, just as it wouldn’t be right for Government to preach the bible to us. It’s not their place.

God set things up so that we had to give 10% (tithe). We rejected God and wanted man to lead us, and now we’re paying a whole lot more than 10%.

With the federal programs come the federal regulations, and guess Who is regulated out of the equation?

If we are truly a caring charitable people, and our Govt is of the people and for the people, then there is absolutely nothing wrong with Govt aid for the poor and elderly.

But that is not the case. Maybe at first, a small number of people get helped and the majority gladly pay, but the dole grows ever higher, and soon the majority in gerrymandered districts are on the dole. It is then the poor who vote themselves more money for things like drugs, alcohol, and cable television. And the politicians cater to them by offering them more to get re-elected.

"We" then aren't "caring charitable people", but greedy thieves voting to take more from the remaining minority who still work.

Just look at how scared politicians are about fixing a failing social security system.

government was not intended to rob peter to help paul, but to protect peter’s assets so that he may help paul of his own accord...

right now, government sets the limit of charity, which suffers because government takes a very big cut.
