As the saga continues, we've got yet another flip-flopped story rolling through in regard to the toxicity (or not) of cellphones to our environment. Just under a fortnight ago, a report based on an (admittedly lacking) research study claimed that Colony Collapse Disorder within bees was being encouraged by cellphone radiation. As expected, the researchers began living a life filled with Q&A sessions about the data, and now the "truth" is coming out. Essentially, the scientists are claiming that their data was "misinterpreted," and that the study actually looked at DECT phones and base stations, which transmit a "different frequency than mobiles." Furthermore, another member chimed in and boldly stated that their "studies cannot indicate that electromagnetic radiation is a cause of CCD." So that settles it -- until the next round of bickering begins, of course.
I hate bees on cellphones.
“Colony Collapse Disorder within bees was being encouraged by cellphone radiation.”
Bees should stop using cell phones.
CCD—At least the bees didn’t get the dreaded Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS).
Tell ‘em to “Hang up and fly!”
I don’t really know what to make of the cellphone/CCD connection. I would not dismiss the possibility that this indeed be a factor.
There are some birds, and possibly some insects that have a ferrous compound in their brains that can sense magnetic fields. They use the Earths magnetic flux lines as navigation aids.
Cellphonophobics always use the word “radiation” when talking about them. “Radio waves” might clue the clueless bunch in that they are nothing but good liars.
The reason for it is because greedy class action lawyers (like Peter Angelos in Baltimore for example) have been spending years looking for scientific evidence that they can use to try and reap a legal windfall against the cell phone companies.
I didn’t beelieve it to beegin with. (zzz zz zz)
Are you saying cell phones don’t produce (and consume) radiation?
Radiation: noun: energy that is radiated or transmitted in the form of rays or waves or particles
Sounds like a cell phone / tower to me...
I’m not saying CCD is a cell phone radiation related phenomena but they do produce radiation, as does your TV and computer monitor...
No, it is “radiation.” Cell phones produce radio waves and radio waves are a kind of radiation. But we’ve had man-made radio waves for more than a hundred years. The bees started to disappear last year. You wonder why it took the bees so long to notice the radio waves. The cellphonophobics are smart enough to realize that if they called it “radio waves,” no one would be fooled by their alarmist rhetoric. So they call it “radiation” instead. The image that arises in the minds of the uninformed public is that of nuclear radiation, which is quite different—mainly in the sense that the waves are more energetic, and thus cause more damage to biological systems.
