I came to FR several years ago and enjoyed the dialog and discussion. It was civil and enlightening. It was refuge. Even when fellow FReepers didn’t agree, there was room for all opinions.
Unfortunately, those days seems to be gone. All I see now is a “Stop Rudy” campaign here no matter the cost. Heh, I’m as conservative as they come. And, I will not vote for Rudy in the primary. Yet, I’m also a pragmatist. And, I was directly affected by the events of 9/11 as many of my colleagues were murdered on that day. The war against Islamofascism is the ONLY priority in my decision making process at the moment regarding the upcoming elections. If it meant prosecuting the global war - in reality, the Third World War - to victory, I will vote for whoever the Republican nominee for President may be.
So, let’s not stoop to the level of the far-left and trash each other with such vitriol. Please.
War is not civil. We are at war with galloping socialism and the enemy is within the gates. If you think I’m going to be civil with people who are promoting an end to our freedom, you’re nuts.
“The war against Islamofascism is the ONLY priority in my decision making process at the moment regarding the upcoming elections.”
Then please don’t support anyone who leaves our borders free and open no matter what they claim about the WOT. We are being invaded there and most of the pols have zero concern over that.
We are at “war” with the Democrats, if we want to characterize the election as a war. If Rudy was so liberal, the Dems would not be caterwallling as they are about his comments and his positions. They seem to fear him a great deal.
There will be no United States worth protecting from foreign enemies if we surrender to the Constitution's domestic ones.
